About this deal

Drakkar Noir is manufactured for Guy Laroche by the L’Oréal Groupe. Here’s a statement from L’Oreal regarding animal testing. However, there is a notable difference between them. Lomani takes a much more balanced approach and the resulting scent has more citruses and lesser spices. I will start off this list with Caesars Man by Caesars World, which is an excellent clone of Drakkar Noir, but also a great cologne in itself. Longevity, can be hit or miss but six hours seems to be average and sometimes it just lasts for a long time. It’s kind of a weird scent in how it performs and I wish it could still be that classic beast mode. Even though it doesn’t have a mint note, the citrus, spices, and mossy bases make up for it and create a very similar scent to Drakkar.

So, naturally, it gained a massive number of followers, and there are men who still swear by it, even today. One day I was leafing through a magazine and found advertisements for Drakkar Noir. Drakkar Noir? That name mean anything to you? Another note that shines in the beginning, is the super crisp mint note. It brings a definite cooled air to the composition, it’s that usual sharp spice, which contrasts extremely well versus the lavender, oak moss, and leather notes. So at the age of ten or eleven, in 1986 or '87, we were visiting my great uncle and were just getting ready to go home, he said to me: "Wait a minute, I have something for you."

Now that you know the basics about Drakkar Noir, let’s jump into the real deal: the clones or alternatives. With that having been a main ingredient in Drakkar, it is of course going to have an effect. But that wasn’t the only one to fall or get watered down, it’s so hard to maintain the greatness of a vintage scent. Drakkar Noir is French and not Italian, but he has that dramatic, fist-bumping, eyes-to-the-sky quality, just like Dalla's epochal song, today more than ever. Drakkar Noir wants to be consciously chosen, consciously worn - by someone who wants to show off and wear all of this - the macho, the barber, the 80s. Then he is loud and confident, then he shows everything he can: Fougère, juniper, oakmoss. Tiled men's shower after the game (including extra time) and dark forest rut and engine oil. Fine ribs and nowhere shaved and proud of it. Yowling and wounded. Pure drama. Like any famous fragrance, Drakkar has also given rise to many clones and inspired scents over the years – but not all of them are worth the buy. Caesars has a slightly soapy finish, less spice, and is another without the leather note. Very inexpensive option, with a smooth aroma, and a very nice fir note. Masculine.Projection wise, Drakkar is still pretty damn good, in that regard. I know it has been reformulated over the years, and while I don’t have a vintage bottle to compare it to, it still projects itself nicely. Base Notes: Oakmoss, Leather, Fir, Pine Tree Needles, Sandalwood, Vetiver, Patchouli, Cedar, Amber, and resins

Drakkar Noir is a beautiful blend of numerous floral, herbal, and fruity notes combined with rich, smokey, masculine base notes. Hence, after trying and testing a bunch of similar colognes, I was able to narrow down a list of the ultimate top 5 colognes that replicate the scent of Drakkar well and have a decent performance. The opening of the scent brings about an aroma of the oak moss and lavender notes. It’s a rather dry and smooth opening with assistance from leather, a cinnamon spice, and some citrus notes. It’s a really fresh and masculine clean scent that has a ‘showered’ like aroma on the skin. In fact, this Guy Laroche fragrance is one of the absolute classic scents to come out of the 1980s, and you don’t make it for almost 40 years by being a ‘garbage’ cologne. It always been one with a complex blend and personality, that has many facets, which don’t always get appreciated. Dakar – Al-Rehab Eau De Natural Perfume Spray – 50 ml (1.65 fl. oz) – I wasn’t around for the 1980s original version of Noir, but from what I’ve read, this is the closest thing around to recreating its magic. To start off, Caesars Man has a lot of overlap with Drakkar in terms of the notes incorporated and notes detectable. Overall, is Drakkar Noir worth a buy? Yes, but, it doesn’t blow me away. I think it’s pretty good. It doesn’t fit my personal style, but I can certainly appreciate it. Maybe, I would’ve enjoyed the vintage formulation a lot more than the current one. However, it comes at a very reasonable and affordable price, so I would say that it’s totally worth it. Some PBS medications are restricted and require prior approval from Medicare before a doctor is able to prescribe them on the PBS. This prior approval to prescribe grants the doctor the Authority to prescribe the desired medicine and have it funded under the PBS.

The juice didn't necessarily get worse, it became a bit milder and more base note-heavy or heart and base notes appear earlier (which I liked quite well), but with the exception of the leather note, which was perfectly tuned before and unfortunately is no longer there this year. With all the woody notes, it has that green/herbal type of scent that you would expect it to. As Drakkar dries down, I get more leather and spice then I do at first, and the cologne maintains its masculinity. The dry down is the best part of this fragrance, in my opinion. There are so many aquatics and Sauvage clones out there, that an older option like Drakkar starts to have a greater appeal.

Both the spray and roll-on smell fantastic and project really well. The longevity is also excellent and lasts for around 8 hours!
