About this deal

The LITELOK X1 uses Barronium, a patented anti-grinder technology that contains tiny ceramic particles. So as you’d expect, the steel inside the links of the Classic is wider (22 mm, compared to 18 mm in the Compact). However, they’re also thinner (4.5 mm, compared to 5 mm in the Compact).

Deeper in the Compact’s mechanism, there’s a key aligning plate, doubling alongside the steel plate as an anti-drill feature. These snags drill bits, causing them to warp and break. But for reasonable price plus great usability, I’d always go for the Kryptonite Kryptolok Standard.True but I would say the LPL is not just entertainment - always worth a search before buying as he's: But now, whenever I return to the 6500, it’s noticeably clunkier to use despite retailing for considerably more than the Compact. Out of the box, the FS 500 felt sturdier than my three-year-old X-Plus 6500, and after testing, I found that the FS 500 offered increased usability. However, I was recently thinking that since we have 4 bikes in the family perhaps running the chain around the upper frame of all 4 bikes and leaving it at that may be just as secure as a ground anchor since with the ground anchor the chain would be resting on the ground making it easier for a thief to use long bolt cutters with their bodyweight on one of the handles of the bolt cutter. I've spoken with Roger Seal, the Marketing Manager for ABUS and he verified the content found within this article.

And in my first test, all the discs I had, actually wore out before I could cut through the other side of the Litelok X1! So I didn't manage to defeat it at all. So if you’ve been wondering whether the Forever is secure enough for your bike or worth the price tag, keep reading, and I’ll let you know! Not everyone will have that option though (either they won't have the necessary holes in their frame or there will be something else already in the way, e.g. the water cradle). So it’s nice to have the plastic ties as well. Jessie-May Morgan is the UK & Ireland Tech Editor of Bikerumor. She has been writing about Mountain Bike Riding and Racing, and all its weird and wonderful technology for 4 years. Prior to that, she was an Intern at the Mountain Bike Center of Scotland, and a Mountain Bike Coach and Leader in the Tweed Valley. The Litelok is cheaper and lighter but less secure than the Hiplok. So it depends on your budget and just how risky that train station is! It's worth remembering that Sold Secure base their testing criteria on inside information from the police and insurers on the techniques that thieves are actually using in the streets.
