Matured in 100% Oloroso Sherry casks, this 15 year old release is a complex, full-bodied dram. Hazelburn 10 års Single Malt 46% kommer fra Springbank Distillery i Campbeltown. Selvom destilleriet er mest kendt for deres letrøgede, 2.5-gange destillerede whisky, laver de også en lille smule ikke-røget, trippel destilleret single malt under navnet ”Hazelburn”, som er lettere og mere elegant i stilen. Denne udgave har tilbragt 10 år på bourbonfade, før den er tappet ved 46% alkohol, naturligvis uden farvestof eller kølefiltrering.

This new limited release in the Hazelburn range is 70% ex-bourbon and 30% ex-sherry cask matured. Robust yet delicate, there is a complexity to this triple distilled offering. Year Old: This whisky is matured in a combination of American oak and bourbon barrels, creating a subtle nose with notes of vanilla, sea spray, and spicy fruits. I do also take a small bit of pleasure in winding up a few Scottish folk who ‘cannae get thur hawns’ on a bottle especially with my ill-gotten reputation of not actually liking anything from Springbank. A score of 3 out of 10 on a previous Springbank 15 will seemingly haunt me until the end of days, although I was only barred temporarily from the IAAS.
