Thanks so much for following on the countdown – whether you have been following the Advent Countdown for years, or halfway through, I hope you’ve enjoyed the journey! I love the use of Day 2 for microbuilds (we got an amazing micro Hogwarts Express in Day 2 last year), and I think the design works for Hogwarts, and I like that the Gryffindor Tower, Great Hall and entrance are immediately recognizable. Cho comes in her dress for the Yule Ball and it is a new version of Cho. Cho was already available in the Harry Potter Minifigure Series 1, and it was not really special. In this version instead it is much much better. Yup, that’s it. Wizards don’t use electricity, so the microphone is pretty much a cone to amplify sound, and at the very least the sheet is printed. I appreciate the different technique used for this tree and the color scheme different form last year trees.

Finally the last of the three main characters of the Harry Potter saga: the wonderful Hermione Granger in her Yule Ball’s dress. Also, looking at the sequence of builds, MOST advent calendars end with a Seasonal/Festive minifigure on Day 24 (Santa Claus, Santa characters etc)!We’re still in Gringgots, with a second part-er to yesterday’s Gringott’s vault – a big pile of Galleons for Day 14! It’s as basic as it goes, literally just a pile of pearl gold 1 x 1 studs, and some pearl gold bars. As expected, Day 11 gives us a Griphook minifigure! Griphook is the goblin bank teller at Gringotts, and has the pleasure of taking Harry to his vault. He comes with a golden key (2 in fact, as there’s a spare on the sprue), and is dressed quite handsomely in a dark red blazer. This year there was the second edition of the Harry Potter Advent Calendar, with the usual 24 gifts. On Day 19, we get the second Patil twin – Parvati Patil who is also an exclusive to this set! She is almost indistinguishable from her sister Padma that we got on Day 15, except that her sari dress robe colours are reversed. Here’s a look at Ron’s alternate face, with a terrified look – maybe he spotted a large spider or something.

A great microscale model for the Durmstrang Ship: the magic vessel used by the Durmstrang team to join the Triwizard Tournament in Hogwarts. So good on LEGO for putting this hard-to-find torso in a fairly accessible advent calendar, but it does make the set less special. Thanks for the great work as always Jay. Following your blog is a big part of opening the Harry Potter calendar every year for my daughter and me.It’s a relatively simple build, and I love that the sign is printed! The sign is exclusive to this set, and is a fun little addition to your LEGO Harry Potter collection. Here’s how the combined table looks together – I really like it, and it’s really the key piece to making it feel like the Yule Ball is coming together. We can start to decorate the main hall of Hogwarts for the Yule Ball. The gift of today is a simple round table with a bottle and a center spot. The Weasleys aren’t a rich family, and Ron being the youngest had to always contend with receiving hand-me-downs (such as his wand, pet rat Scabbers) and even clothes. He’s thoroughly embarrassed by the ancient style with its frills.
