About this deal

Now I’m no big believer in coincidences…and neither is Josie. So when her daughter goes missing shortly after Samuels release…well I think we all know who to point the finger at. Don’t we? This morning, my daughter sat right here, munching her breakfast, too excited to finish it. Now, she is missing.

When the police aren't much help - they've got all those procedures and rules that must be followed, don't you know - so of course Josie basically sets out to prove she's right about Samuel. His mother, who Josie detests, tries to convince Josie that she can help - but only if Josie doesn't tell anybody else including the cops. So when Josie agreed, while I of course hoped Ivy would be found safe and sound, from that point on I really didn't care what happened to Josie. K L Slater is truly a masterful storyteller! This book was paced perfectly, we kept being fed breadcrumbs of information... just enough to satisfy me and make me wanting more... I really enjoyed how the secrets were revealed, I liked trying to figure out what was going on... another well-crafted thriller from a brilliant author! Sixteen years ago, Rose made a mistake. She fell in love with a man who really wasn't the best choice for any woman, especially a young virginal teenager. Things seemed to happen to the people around her ... her friends, her family, her brother. I was gifted this advance copy by K.L. Slater, Bookouture and NetGalley and was under no obligation to provide a review. Josie's daughter Ivy has gone missing and Josie is sure she knows who took her. This is one of those stories that pulls you in at the beginning and doesn't let you go until you finish. You just need to find out what had taken place and how it ends. The pace is fast and the twists keep coming. I like the authors writing style and the way she can keep me on the edge of my seat. I did feel there were some loose ends needed tying up, so I took half a star off my rating. Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for a free electronic ARC of this novel, received in exchange for an honest review. I think the start of this is good as is the premise which looks at the impact of one person on several lives especially when prison is thrown into the mix. There are several perspectives and Samuels is good, he is chilling, manipulative and makes your flesh crawl. Maggies is also interesting and via her we certainly get some intriguing and revealing plot twists which help to make sense of a lot.

A thought provoking title I thought when I started reading this and I soon discovered a thought provoking story inside too.Such an excellent start, but the slow development was not very engaging and didn’t feel realistic. The writing was repetitive and I didn’t care for any of the characters.

Missing — K.L. SLATER

DISCLOSURE: Thank you to Bookouture via Netgalley for prov The tragic death of her little brother irrevocably changed Josie’s life when she was just a teenager. Their neighbor, Samuel Barlow, was convicted of the crime. Years later, Josie is a divorced mom and successful business owner when her little girl goes missing – right after Barlow is released from prison. Josie is convinced that Barlow has kidnapped her child, but it seems like Barlow’s mother is the only one who believes her. The story is told both in the past and in the present day. As the story unfolds we learn about the events leading up to Billy's disappearance and death. We meet all the players, we see how easily Rose was manipulated and controlled, we see how this affected her relationships and her self esteem, then we see Billy go missing. In the present day, we see Rose as an unmarried single woman. Her parents are dead and she is basically on her own. The the discovery turns her life upside down. Well, in theory that would normally be a fairly sound plan. That is until one of the fathers takes his eyes off her for just a moment. Now Grace has vanished!Josie immediately suspects Samuel, who has just been released from prison after being charged with killing Josie’s brother 25 years before. I am a full-time author writing psychological thrillers which also happens to be my favourite genre to read.
