vanaf de eerste pagina begint de actie en stopt dan eigenlijk niet meer, waardoor je echt door het verhaal vliegt. er gebeuren allerlei dingen die ik echt niet zag aankomen! wat ook heel erg tof is, is het feit dat dit boek divers en inclusief is. de personages zijn niet perfect, maar dat maakt het ook wat realistischer. wat ik echt super interessant vond is dat de geschiedenis eigenlijk normaal loopt totdat koning lodewijk de 14de (de zonnekoning) in een vampier word veranderd en dan de schaduwkoning word. vanaf dat punt splitst de realiteit naar een fantasiewereld. de schaduwkoning houd het magna vampyria rijk in een ijzeren greep en de normale burgers zijn eigenlijk een soort van voedselbank voor de vampieren aristocratie.
