He successfully kidnapped the real leaders, imprisoned Sally into a dungeon with a big spider, lied to Halloween Town of Jack's absence giving the town a bad name, as well as using said lie to single-handedly take over Halloween Town and turning it into "Oogie Town", and tried to murder Santa Claus again, but his plans to kill Santa were foiled by Jack. After sustaining enough damage Mega Oogie's legs dissolve causing him to become stationary, but he can still spit trash and cause girders to erupt from the ground. Unlike all of the other inhabitants of Halloween Town, who were merely innocent monsters who scared people for a living, and as a profession, and for whom "life's no fun without a good scare", Oogie was truly evil. After defeating the trio on the Mayor's roof, they open a void that sends him to the Oogie Corridor.

He is a legendary boogeyman, as suggested by the Boogie in his name, and how he even tells Santa "you better pay attention now because I'm the Boogeyman" in his song The Oogie Boogie Song.Oogie boogie tattoos can be incorporated into other tattoo designs, often with a Halloween or horror theme, as the character is very popular among fans of this genre. Oogie is quite rotund, with stumpy legs and fingerless arms, a stark contrast to Jack Skellington's gaunt, tall physique (though Oogie completely towers over Jack in height).
