Description

I had quite a bit of empathy towards Emily as she was sure she had not only seen the whale but had claimed to looking after and protecting the whale.

I love Greenpeac e. I respect them. I’m inspired by them and I don’t want to see them become totally irrelevant. But sometimes you have to stand up to the people you love. Leon has just moved in to town with his mum. His dad is away in the army. Leon needs a friend, but how can he find one? Rang Tan' is an educational film made by Greenpeace to educate people about the destruction of the rainforests due to human intrusion, primarily from the Palm Oil manufacturers.

The environmental focus is very relevant- could be adapted into a variety of lesson plans- focus on animal migration, researching types of animals, looking into work of environmental charities (what can I do to help?) etc. The text font was a good idea, as it helps differentiate between the letters between Emily and Greenpeace. It was nicely applied. It s about Emily who writes to Greenpeace regarding a whale she saw in her pond. She asks for more information on whales. Unlike some of the people that run Greenpeace, it’s my generation that will have to live with the consequences of climate change. In my experience young people tend to be open minded to all solutions, including nuclear. It’s an emergency after all!

A wonderful and thought provoking story which would be ideal for many topics and themes: animals and their habitats, the environment, looking after the world around us - to name but a few. This story encourages empathy and care of animals and the world around us and in could provoke some powerful thoughts and writing from children. The perfect introduction to learning about our planet and the importance of caring for it. Baby London Choose an animal and make a list of similarities and differences between your chosen animal and a whale. This book is a compilation of letters between a little girl called Emily and Greenpeace. She informs Greenpeace that there is a whale living in her pond. But Greenpeace think she is mistaken and give her facts about whales i.e. where whales live etc. The illustrations are delightful and show the reader that in fact, Emily is telling the truth. The pictures also show Emily reading the letters she has received from Greenpeace, which is rather cute. The front cover of the book is in the form of an envelope with a stamp.Following the reading sessions, we then decided that we would write letters to the Prime Minister in protest against palm oil products in the UK. Meanwhile, Emily's relationship with her whale 'Arthur' grows. She salts the water for him and feeds him cornflakes and breadcrumbs. Celebrating 25 years of this enchanting ecological fantasy from a multi-award-winning picture book creator. Armistice Day: A Collection of Remembrance - Spark Interest and Educate Children about Historical Moments

Sally’s teacher says that limpets live for twenty years. Will Sally ever get the limpet off her finger? Hello Yellow - 80 Books to Help Children Nurture Good Mental Health and Support With Anxiety and Wellbeing - Imagine that Lucy sees her whale again at a later date. Could you write a story about an adventure that they might have together? https://images.google.bs/url?sa=t&url=https://www.liveinternet.ru/users/gusionsaber/post499368810//A breath of fresh air… Witty and sparkling line-and-wash pictures… Full of humour and vitality.’ The Guardian Simon’s Comments A simple, warm hearted and humorous book with charming illustrations. The correspondence could spark ideas for letter writing in the classroom setting. Think of some speech / thought bubbles to accompany the illustrations in the book. What is Emily thinking? What might the whale be thinking?
