For me the real stars of the story are Luis and his servant Gil. They're already lovers, so the manga spends a good amount of time dropping many tantalizing hints about their history together that make you wish the story had spent more time on them. Gil is a former slave and gladiator that is taken by Louis to be his servant, and ten years later their relationship is complicated, passionate and troublesome. Mr Levy explained the Israeli Government will on Monday (October 23) screen "gruesome" unseen footage of the barbarities perpetrated against people on October 7. The Ordnance Survey is set up to prepare detailed maps of the country. InternationalMozart composes The Magic Flute.

This is set in a Renaissance European inspired fantasy setting complete with skeevy priests (that you don't have to squint to see as Catholic bishops even though it's not a Christian religion depicted). Lord Montague's life has been threatened (he is a judge so he has enemies) so the bastard son of a royal, Viscount Adam Canning steps in as a body guard only to fall for Montague's 'nephew' Joel, the most uptight boring virgin imaginable. This is a historical work of art which reflects the attitudes and viewpoints of the time in which it was made. Whilst these may differ from today's attitudes, this image is an important historical document. To give the mangaka props although the characters seem very two dimensional at first they do grow (a bit) as the manga progresses, as we the reader learns more about their pasts and their hardships. It's also important to point out that homosexuality is present with a lot of the character's causing the atmosphere of homophobia itself to be less present within their world. Which is a much welcoming change for readers looking for a less tense politically charged world itself. The worldbuilding was interesting and there's also a romance between two secondary characters that caught my attention, and has me excited to learn more about them in the next volume. Nov 20 From the U.S. to Japan, You Can Control the Life-Size Moving Gundam from the Comfort of Your Own Home The art itself is also very beautiful with the heavily referenced costuming to the main leads being both very beautiful themselves. from a lot of the character's themselves. The two main leads, Joel and Adam follow a lot of prevalent tropes within the Boys Love manga scene. Adam being the handsome perverted "top" and Joel being the shy, almost ace presenting "bottom". Not to say they aren't enjoyable character's its just to be expected that again like most BLs there's a common theme in terms of character representation.

The side character's are also enjoyable with two of the side character's being in a very heated relationship, both of them greatly infatuated with each other. It's a little disappointing, although not entirely bad, that the romance between Adam and Joel isn't nearly as enjoyable as some of the other elements of the story in this first volume. It's a familiar tropey BL romance: Adam is pansexual and drawn to everyone sexually but feels love for the first time with Joel. Joel is either repressed or demisexual and not keen on sex or romance. Adam aggressively pursues him, dubious consent happens, and the will-they-won't-they drives the plotline. It is alright (except for the dubcon for some readers), but it isn't unique. Meanwhile, a secondary romance between the heir to a different throne and his manservant – a former fighting slave – is much more complex and fraught. At the same time, the politics of all kingdoms involved are convoluted and intense. Let me be clear one of those stars is for the art which is gorgeous. I keep forgetting that Boys Love manga does not equal LGBT positive stories. It's a fantasy-romance off shoot that is often not as positive as one would hope. It often (and this one does contain it so here's your content warning) has a crap ton of non-con/dub-con, a lot of guys screaming no no no and then giving in. Personally this is not to my taste. I want a more realistic take on LGBT romance, not something that makes me feel a little gross. Obviously BL manga is very popular. I'm the one who needs to be more careful in my selection. Not heavy on the worldbuilding itself the world is set in a medieval like area, taking many costume designs from actual historical influences. Based primarily in Tance + Xehena both made up continents based on actual places somewhere in Europe.

I enjoyed Adam and Joel's dynamic for the most part. There were plenty of funny moments between them, but there were a few scenes that were yikes. I'm hoping there's less of that in the next volume. I liked this one a lot. The art is beautiful and the story is funny. A grumpy/sunshine trope like relationship. Adam is a young nobleman playboy who is know everywhere for sleeping with anyone and everyone. He takes a job as a bodyguard for Lord Montague after his life is threatened. When he meets his nephew Joel, he is smitten and falls in love. Joel doesn’t believe in Adam’s feelings and wants to keep him as a friend, but Adam is determined to have Joel share his feelings.

Jacqueline Fung has delivered an enjoyable translation for Seven Seas and conveys the formality of some of the dialogue (kings, queens, ministers) as well as the more intimate conversations that take place in everyday life. Not heavy on the worldbuilding means that the character's should be well thought out and versatile. Although that is somewhat true it's hard to actually pin point any growth Nov 25 i☆Ris the Movie - Full Energy!! - Anime Film Teaser Visual Revealed at i☆Ris Live Stage in Anime NYC & i☆Ris First Performance in New York Successfully Completed The plot itself is alright...Again it follows a lot of similar BL tropes with Adam the playboy falling hard for the distant, hardworking innocent 'bottom' Joel.
