Description

Place the lid on the container and start your countdown timer. I personally set the timer to 15-minute intervals for finely-detailed objects, and 30 for large solid objects. Depending on the size and complexity of your print, the whole process of removal of acetone can take several hours to a few days. Just be patient – all the hard work is over, and you only need to wait. Important tips Polishing tips: Use an accurate thermometer, a convection oven, and an oven-safe surface. Do not open the oven door during polishing. Expect some shrinkage and growth along the print axes. The following photograph shows the setup used in the acetone bath ABS of the soap trays seen above. Without getting any on your plinth, pour the acetone over the kitchen roll sheets you placed up the side of the container. You need to have enough acetone to cover the bottom of the polishing container to a depth of a millimeter or two.

All the top brands you know and love, including those exclusive to Superior Vapour such as, Voopoo, J-Well e-liquids, Bo Vape, Aspire, GeekVape plus many more You will walk away, forget it, only to return later to find that amazing print that you were once so proud of has now turned into a hideous misshapen lump of plastic, or at worst some kind of acetone ABS mess.

Ingredient List

Acetone bath is a great way to make your 3D-printed models look awesome. However, since we are dealing with acetone vapours the whole process is quite dangerous to perform. If you use the vapors instead you have much more control over theABS smoothing and the final results. As the vapors can get to all exposed surfaces equally, there are fewer areas of uneven melting. There are also no run-off channels or drip marks induced into the surface of the object that direct exposure to acetone liquid may cause. This is our clear ABS filament, acetone smoothed. What You Will Need – If it sounds like doing an acetone vapor bath will work for your print, then it’s time to roll up your sleeves. This procedure was crafted so you’ll only need to use items you have lying around the house (aside from the acetone, probably). First, gather all the things you will need:

This is the fastest and the safest way to do acetone bath that I have developed so far. You will need common household tools and items. It is the safest way I know but still don't forget to open windows and don't use open fire! Or you will experience a HUGE fireball.

How does an acetone vapor bath work?

The following photograph shows what happens to a part when exposed to the fumes for an extended period. Polishing materials: ABS, ASA, PMMA, HIPS, and Polycarbonate are some of the common thermoplastics that can be polished using acetone in a kitchen oven at different temperatures and durations.
