Chocolate Bhutlah – As Hot as the Carolina Reaper? – Green Chocolate Bhutlah – As Hot as the Carolina Reaper? – Green

Plus, I have to admit, I watch videos like the Chocolate Bhutlah challenge where people film themselves eating these nuclear hots so we can see their reactions. But, I digress.. 😉 ) Hi there! We’re Jesse and Jenny at Grow Hot Peppers. We love spicy peppers, growing veggies and gardening without ever digging up any soil. Learn more… RECENT POSTS The words “floral” and “earthy” are two descriptions I see over and over when describing the Chocolate Bhutlah pepper taste. That seems to be the case for many super hot varieties. One of our favorite superhots is the yellow/orange variant of the 7 pot primo (pictured above). These pods are not quite as hot as the red 7 pot primo, but they have a delicious, citrus-like flavor and plenty of heat for us! They think eating this extremely hot pepper is bad for their health. Once this pepper has been around long enough to be stable, it will be interesting to see what happens! Another (temporary) hottest pepper in the world was once the Trinidad Moruga Scorpion pepper. With an average Scoville rating of 1,200,000 SHUs, the Moruga Scorpion easily outshines the Ghost pepper.

Development of the Dorset Naga began near Dorset, England, around 2001 when Joy and Michael Michaud of “Peppers by Post” bought a Naga Morich plant from an Oriental foods store in southern England. The Naga Morich chile is from Bangladesh and is highly regarded in that community. Over several years they selected fruit with the specific characteristics they were looking for, and extracted seeds. saw a flurry of news articles with potential new "hottest pepper in the world" claims, including the " Dragon's Breath Pepper" and the ultra blazing " Pepper X", which is hotter than the Carolina Reaper. Growing Carolina Reaper plants in a garden is a simple process that should not require much work after the initial preparation. However, it does present unique challenges when compared to growing them indoors. Carolina Reapers take an extremely long time to ripen, often up to another 100 days. This long ripening time is largely due to how hot they are. In general, the hotter the pepper, the longer the ripening period. In this post I will write about my experience with growing and tasting one of the world’s hottest chilies; the Carolina Reaper. But first you will also find some short information about the chili variety. Carolina ReaperFirst, a warning: this is a scorching chili. Eating it raw is not ever advised. This is an extreme heat that works better diluted into other ingredients. There are lots of hot pepper daredevils that have recorded their experiences eating this hot pepper raw, so it’s easy to see for yourself − just take a look on YouTube.

Carolina Reaper Chilli Chocolate Limes - 100g Bag Sweets

Like most 7 Pots (and other super-hots) there’s a sweetness – almost floral – to the chili. That’s paired with the subtle earthiness you typically get from chocolate varieties of different peppers (like the chocolate habanero). You can also get hints of fruitiness and smokiness from the flavor, too. But, of course, the spiciness is so great with the Chocolate Bhutlah that most won’t ever get to the flavor. Cooking with Chocolate Bhutlah In general, Carolina Reaper plants are self-pollinating and will require no additional work from you to reach full maturity. Occasionally, however, their self-pollination will stall and require additional help. It is highly recommended to start the seedlings indoors, where you can control the temperature and ensure that they will not experience any frost. After about six weeks, or when there is no chance of frost freezing the plant, they can be moved outside. When we are talking about anything over 250,000 SCU, you can definately send yourself to the hospital in serious pain and digestive problems. As an old friend used to say, no matter how bad or how good things were, "And this too shall pass". It hurts just as bad going out as it did going in. Before you go and grow one of the world’s hottest peppers, make sure you know exactly what you’re getting into! Try some hot sauces that use this pepper to get an idea of just how hot peppers can get.Carolina Reaper plants should receive about two inches of water per week, spread throughout multiple days. Ensure that the soil is not drying out or retaining a lot of water. Spreading the two inches throughout the week will help keep a healthy environment for plant growth. Remove the white membrane of the Chocolate Bhutlah to remove a decent portion of its spiciness. While capsaicin is within most parts of a chili, it’s especially prevalent in the white membrane (or pith.) Removing it can help lessen the intensity you’d experience. Chad and Steve grew different versions of the Bhutlah pepper’s chocolate variant creating two different strains. You can get seeds for the Red Savina here. Even this pepper, the least spicy pepper on this list, is far too spicy for most to handle. A prolific producing plant could leave you with 100s of Red Savina habaneros at the end of a single growing season, so be sure you have a plan for what to do with your peppers!
