Purified Water, Propylene Glycol, Light Liquid Paraffin 8% w/w, Cetostearyl Alcohol, Glyceryl Monostearate, Polysorbate 40, Soya Bean Oil, White Soft Paraffin 4% w/w, Colloidal Anhydrous Silica, Sorbic Acid. Indications: Use a leave-on emollient as a soap substitute and continue with standard eczema management, including regular leave-on emollients and topical corticosteroids when required

It may help to apply an emollient before and after swimming. Leave enough time for it to be absorbed into your skin before you swim. Hydroxybenzoates (parabens) are no longer included as an excipient as per up to date SPC from manufacturer - BNF in the process of being updated.Do not use soap or bubble baths etc when you wash as they can dry out the skin and make it more prone to irritation. It's especially important to regularly apply an emollient to your hands and face, as they're exposed to the elements more than any other part of your body. Children under 1: Seek HCP advice before use. Adults, the elderly and children: As an emollient: Apply to the affected area as often as required. Smooth gently into the skin, following the direction of the hair growth. As a bath additive: Melt about 4g (roughly a teaspoonful) of Zeroderm Ointment in hot water in a suitable container. Then add to the bath ensuring that the water has sufficiently cooled before getting in. As a soap substitute: Take a small amount of Zeroderm Ointment from the tub, lather it under warm water and use as required when washing or in the shower. Pat skin dry. Date of preparation:If your skin stings after using an emollient wash product and does not settle after rinsing, ask a pharmacist to recommend a different product. Using emollients with other skin treatments Emollient soap substitutes that are used instead of normal soap in the bath or shower are not usually available on the NHS. How to get emollients Please note all items listed in the British Association of Dermatology specials list are classified as having a 'red' traffic light status except for Pigmanorm (non formulary). Children under 1: Seek HCP advice before use. Adults: Add 15-20ml to a standard bath of warm water (8 inches deep). Immerse and cover the affected areas with the bath water and soak for 10-20 minutes. Pat dry with a towel. Infants and children: Add 5-10ml to a small bath or wash basin of water. Immerse and cover the affected areas with the bath water and soak for 10-20 minutes. Alternatively, repeatedly sponge over the affected areas. Pat dry with a towel. Use as often as required. Date of preparation: Because of the greasiness of ointments, some patients may deem them cosmetically unacceptable and be reluctant to use them, however according to NICE guidelines/ta81, the “greasier the emollient the better” 1.
