Nancie and the Ghost Hunters aren’t the only ones haunted. I may not see my ghost, but I know she’s there. I want to drink and dance and make Nancie happy. I really do, but every time I run into anyone in this goddamn town, they ask me about her. I can’t take another person looking at me with pity in their eyes. I might as well be that broken kid again, beaten down by his father. I liked this book more then book 1. I didn't really like Nancy very much, things about her never added up. Halloween is coming faster than a witch on a vibrating broom and though I do love candy, costumes, and crisp-autumn-morning chubs, the holiday season also carries construction deadlines.

There’s been another discovery. More death. My heart skips like a scratched record when I hear Nancie’s name. It’s getting harder and harder to believe her sister isn't here, that she’s not involved. How long until she flips the switch and hurts Nancie? And when will the others figure out what she is? Oddly enough, there was some good bits and incidental comedy, hence the 4 stars. Sadly there wasn't enough. Being finished with the renovations of the haunted kink hotel, aka the Monster Mansion (book 1), Nancie and her crew start renovating the old firehouse. Unfortunately for them a new fixer-upper also seems to mean new ghosts and new dead bodies.I am still rating it up instead of down because I don’t want my review to keep others from continuing the story for what I consider minor issues. The main story is solid and the character interactions are realistic and believable. There is sound continuity and the mysteries continue. To me, those are the things that matter most. This is the second book in the haunted house rehab series, and just like the first one it follows a central storyline that started in the first book, and has a storyline specific for this book that wraps up nicely at the end. Because of that it didn't have a brutal cliffhanger, but still manages to keep interest for the rest of the series. And what a series it is... I have a hard time describing it, because it feels like an entirely new style. This book has layers upon layers, and it seems crazy to combine it all, and still it works. Some layers are dark and twisted and deal with heavy topics, while others are light and funny and rather feel like inside jokes. I'm pretty sure that you can reread this series multiple times and still keep on discovering something new about it. This book has so many twists and turns that each time I thought I understood what was happening, I read something and thought: "Wait... What!?" Hocus Poke Us is a full-length, medium-burn, paranormal reverse harem romance filled with spooky autumn vibes and small-town crime. So, if you like your romantic suspense with a sprinkle of cozy and a dash of crazy tongue-in-cheek laughter then you’re in for a treat.
