In the lab, we measured the amount of liquid each pad was able to hold and timed how long it took to be fully absorbed. We also assessed whether any visible shrinkage was seen after washing the reusable ones, too. Our go-to supermarket brand has had an eco update, switching to a new organic cotton design that’s also free from fragrances, dyes and chlorine bleaching. We rated their absorbency, making them a reliable choice to wear at night, and we didn’t experience irritation either. We love that these pads are fully biodegradable – including the plant-based wrapper – and made from 100% organic bamboo, which is silky soft. They stayed put while wearing, which eliminated any leakage problems, and were comfortable to wear. An all-round winner for us! FLO period pads are 99% biodegradable, however, due to the existing debates about compostability in the period care industry, we recommend you dispose of them in the general waste bin, where they will biodegrade naturally in a few years. That's much less than conventional pads, whose biodegradation takes over 100 years!

Sizing is completely off. I’m normally a UK size 12/14, they recommend sizing up so I went for the large (apparently a UK size 16/18). Looking at the label apparently they are a UK size 16/18, a US size 8 (which is a UK 12) and a EU size 40 (also a UK 12). A size 12 seems about right and they are a little on the snug side, which I wasn’t expecting given I went large and isn’t what I wanted from the product.
