Description

Brindle is harder to see as "stripes" in Highland cattle because of their long hair than in Texas Longhorn, for example. Highland cattle that have a del allele or two copies of the deletion allele and are brindle, and are even harder to see as striped. Yes, it certainly will! Not only is this Scottish animals colouring activity a great calming exercise for children, it will also help them develop a number of different skills. First and foremost, this activity will help children develop their fine motor skills. These skills recruit all the little muscles in our fingers, wrists and hands to do tasks like colouring and drawing.

The biggest giveaway is in the name - the Highlands! Highland cows can be found all over Scotland, but you’re most like to find them in the Scottish Highlands or on the Scottish Islands - particularly the Isle of Skye. If you’re local to Edinburgh, you’ll often spot a few grazing in the Pentland hills. Jersey cows are another breed of dairy cow that comes from the British Channel Islands. Jersey cows are usually brown, but occasionally have white spots along their fur. This beautiful Highland cow outline makes for a lovely mindfulness colouring activity. Use it with your learners for an engaging art and design lesson, and have plenty of fun creating a colourful cow. This is a great activity for a Steven Brown art topic, or for creating a mindful atmosphere with your pupils. Another mutation at another gene, ASIP is the main cause of brindle however. This allele is known as ABr. This mutation was discovered in a research lab in France, studying Normande or Normandy cattle. This Highland male has one copy of this brindle allele and one copy of the wild type or normal allele. His genotype is therefore ABr/A.This is a lovely activity to encourage mindfulness, as your learners can develop a sense of focus as they colour in, and pay attention to their own thoughts and feelings. Mindfulness can help reduce feelings of anxiety, so it’s perfect for helping your learners' emotional wellbeing too. More Highland cow themed activities to use with your children Colouring is also a well known activity that is brilliant for mindfulness practice. Children can learn to be more mindful through colouring because their aim is to focus on one task, without any other distractions or responsibilities. What other colouring resources are available? Also, you could trace over my cow illustration on a different sheet of paper to include multiple cows, giving these social little calves some friends on paper! 5. Angus Cows

Along with these illustrations of animals, we have a whole host of other colouring resources available...Highland cow art is not just cute, but relatively simple to draw if you follow step-by-step instructions. This handy guide will help you create the animal in simple steps starting from drawing the head, finding the eye and ear lines, adding the horns and the iconic fluffy hair. In just nine steps, your class will be flooded with adorable highland cows. Teach your Second level or KS2 learners to draw a simple highland cow effectively with this fantastic teacher-made step-by-step guide. It encourages them to think about the proportions of a cow's face and show them how to do the finishing touches. Our talented illustrators have created these wonderful Mindfulness Colouring Sheets, which are deliberately detailed so that your pupils can take their time. When coloring in my baby calf illustration, I recommend using really bright and youthful colors, such as pink, blue, or yellow. Dress it up a little with glitter and other stationery.
