A handful of shots were also captured on an Iconix HD-RH1 camera and Sigel’s Canon EOS 5D Mark II, while high-speed photography used a Weisscam HS-2 MK2. The greatest acting talents are the performers who can speak volumes just by saying nothing at all, and this film is loaded with those performers.

It turns out that her husband has been doing time and now hes out and still in debt to the low lifes that put him inside in the first place.

And this makes the brutal, bloody action sequences all the more jarring, explosive and gripping for the contrast. The ease with which he handles violence shows that he’s had plenty of experience with it in his past. Drive is a modern classic, one of the greatest movies of the last twenty years, a superbly orchestrated piece of indie filmmaking, made original by breathtaking visual energy, a stunning soundtrack, rich imagery and an effortlessly cool style. But our smoldering anti-hero has other plans and to defend his collagues and the one he loves, so he decides that revenge is the only way to clear the air. Marking the first 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray release from both MVD and 88 Films, Drive arrives in a new 4K transfer sourced from a 4K scan of the original camera negative.

Drive borrows its subject matter and main character from The Driver, blended with some of the narrative ideas from Thief, but shaken and stirred in such a way that it wouldn’t be recognizable to either Hill or Mann. I'm beyond shocked that Gosling and Refn weren't even nominated for an Oscar as both deserved at least a nomination. He was always a professional, so his transformation involves using his existing skills for a different cause: protecting the innocent. That gives the whole chase a fascinating pattern of start/stop rhythms, but the entire sequence maintains a high level of tension even when things have slowed down—arguably more so than when the action kicks in. They don't have the best picks for movies because they have a limited budget, so in most respects, they have their reputation and word of mouth.

MVD Entertainment Group and 88 Films have arrived on the 4K market with the kind of worthwhile, well-appointed release they’re both best known for. This is a deeply subtle film, told more in body language, gesture and eye contact than bold actions and lengthy exposition. Dolby Atmos is not the best around in this one in general, but it's the best audio track you'll ever get for this film. Drive comes to UK 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray courtesy of Second Sight, with a new 4K master produced by the original post production company and approved by Director Nicolas Winding Refn. Overall I would certainly recommend this film and it would certainly be in my top five films of 2011.

He gives a brief recap of how he became Refn’s English-language editor, before focusing on what was involved in cutting Drive. As for the Dolby Vision HDR layer, DV infuses the presentation with a rich palette that rewards the film’s rather-spare aesthetic. It’s not so much of a scene-specific commentary as it is a loose conversation between the two of them, sharing much more generalized thoughts about the film. Europe's busiest forums, with independent news and expert reviews, for TVs, Home Cinema, Hi-Fi, Movies, Gaming, Tech and more. That’s a nice collection of disc-based extras, but it’s a shame that the Limited Edition sold out so quickly, which would have warranted an overall rating of A+.
