Well I guess I got lucky with my copy… or perhaps this is a repress… in any case, there are some very minor crackles between some tracks (not many) but otherwise warm, nice bass, good instrument separation and nice soundstage with no distortion anywhere. I can't compare it to the 1LP white version (the bad reviews put me off), but like others have said, this is the best I've heard this album. Dominated by understated acoustic strumming and his warbling tenor, opener 'Please Forgive Me' is a dead ringer for mid-'70s Dylan.
