I find that it's hard to write a review of the fragrances I really like. Midnight Rain is one of them. My mother always told me "If you have nothing nice to say, say nothing at all" but I have always held with Dorothy Parker: "If you don't have anything nice to say, come sit by me..." I remember the shining glass, bright lights, and crystalline bottles of the department store counter the day I first encountered Midnight Rain. I'd wandered in on a whim, had no idea the perfume was still fairly young, and yet fell in love with its scent amidst the huge posters detailing other releases. Vetiver is the 13th fragrance note in La Prairie Life Threads Platinum. Chrysopogon zizanioides, commonly known as vetiver and khus, is a perennial bunchgrass of the family Poaceae.

The first fragrance from the top-of-the-line Swiss cosmetics brand, La Prairie. Silver Rain creators were inspired by the phenomenon that takes place in spring in the mountains of the Alps. Rain is transformed into ice crystals of breathtaking beauty. In the spring ,these crystal melt and fall from the height of 1000 feet. This is called “ silver rain”. This fragrance includes rare ingredients from all over the world. Top notes include spicy green apple, citrusy-floral accord of Verbena Blossom from the South of France, dewy red fruits, anise oil from Thailand and bergamot from Calabria. At its heart, Moroccan red rose petals meet Chinese star magnolia, tropical Agarwood and night-blooming Indian jasmine, leaving a trail of warm red sandalwood, creamy Tonka bean from Venezuela, heliotrope, vanilla from Madagascar and mix of different musks. The perfume was created by Claude Dir in 2004. Anyhow, when I came across Midnight Rain, I was thrilled. I spritzed it on a sample card and took it home. I kept it on my makeup table and sniffed it excitedly, knowing I had finally found a keeper. I waited for my birthday to ask for it (because as many have noted, it's pricey!)What is it about this expression, "Angel clone", that I do not understand? I know what ANGEL is. I believe that I understand the meaning of the word 'clone'. Why is every other sweet floriental in The Holey[sic] Book dismissed derisively as an "Angel clone"? Oh well. I will get a lot of pleasure out of this bottle and I'm looking forward to dark autumn nights smelling this good. It's a perfect match! Try it for yourselves if you get a chance. i can imagine spraying myself over and over with this and i would feel like a goddess in paradise, sitting inbetween ripe fruits and berries and juices, smelling their intense aroma, inhaling a deep breath of woods and mosses to my nostrils, while delicate flowers are spriding intense trails of their pollen everywhere and the creamy odor of their petals hangs around in the air like clouds of sweet dreams. the scent grows very mutch on your skin, it feels sweet, warm and comfy. delicious intoxicating trails are coming up to my nose, mhhhhmmmm the juice in the cute little dropshaped silver bottle is pure bliss! i expected something very different, not that smooth and innocent. don t get me wrong, the scent is strong and intense, not weak but soft and dreamy. kinda adictive.

Absolutely useless trying this scent on the fly, from the cap, etc., that’s how I passed by silver and colored bottles for years (the SA said they all smell the same). Even wearing Silver rain for an hour made no big sense for me at first: light feminine vanilla with a non-fluffy/ non-yummy facet, there seemed nothing really remarkable about it except its longevity maybe. In The Holey[sic] Book, this perfume is characterized as an "Angel clone". I could not disagree more. This smells nothing like ANGEL, and I have no idea why anyone with a nose would say such a thing. Or is the confusion here about the meaning of the word 'clone'? I remember testing Silver Rain sometime last year and finding it a little too heavy on the berries. When I read that Midnight Rain also featured dominant fruity accords, I must admit that I feared it to be just as potent as its predecessor. I remembered it more beautiful, or maybe my nose has changed. It is no doubt a rich scent that reminds of rain, warm soil and something sweet coming through. However I received a decant and it reminded me of some sweet Axe deodorant that became so popular in the early 00s, I guess the deo could have been influenced by perfume launches like Midnight Rain. So I am partly sad that a memory has been ruined (or only turned?) and at the same time relieved to have one discontinued item less on the want shelf. Scent very rich, greatly rounded, I get mostly combination of fruity notes and flowers with patchouli as undernote wich makes it more stable.

i dabed only a few drops of this luxury juice on my wrists, and the sillage is yet amazing. staying power - as far - very promising. I like the opening luscious fruity notes, even if they're a bit... unapologetic. The looonnng middle period jars me. It's spicy and peppery on my skin. Is this the patchouli? I have to assume it is, because I can find NOTHING in the listed middle notes that would blast my nostrils in this way. I am not a spice fan. There is FRUIT. Quite a bit of it, actually. Apparently it's raining guava and it's a downpour! Guava is heavy throughout the entire life of this fragrance. You must love the note to even begin to tolerate this composition. Fortunately I find guava appealing, BUT not enough to be drenched in it. FINALLY ! i got today my miniature of Silver Rain (5 Euro for 2ml !!!) and this was a very good deal for it, usualy it's more expensive though.
