I personally like the look of a coyote brown NATO, as the color is spot on with the gilt accents. Lume I would like to call attention to the brand’s marketing strategy, wherein the MSRP of their watches is highly inflated and instantly slashed to give the impression of value and savings. Corners must be cut at this price point, but it’s no stretch to presume folks would pay a little more for upgraded specs. At the very least, a sapphire crystal upgrade would have been nice. It's not supposed to be a BB is it, it's supposed to be a homage to the very first Rolex sub dating from 1953.

It’s a watch that shows Invicta is capable of pulling off restrained designs, and I hope to see more like it in the future. Watch Lists By Style: Best Chronograph Watches | Best Digital Watches | Best Dive Watches | Best Dress/Minimalist Watches | Best Field Watches | Best Rugged/Military Watches Mine is the Coke model. It came with a plain, rather small box. I’m ok with that. Takes up less space. The pictures show the strap on a Tudor, which looks very similar to this Invicta. The hands are a bit different, but quite similar. Despite my reservations about the execution of the design, it’s worth highlighting that some of the physical aspects of this watch are very impressive indeed. I wondered if I should don my flame suit for posting about an Invicta but it does seem this has hit the spot.

Yet, rather quietly, an auspicious dive watch has sneaked its way onto the scene; with very little marketing. This one first cropped up in early 2020, so why am I only just talking about it now? Well, naturally, or perhaps artificially, by the time I discovered the watch, it had already sold out. In traditional Submariner fashion, the stainless steel case takes on an exclusively brushed finish, except for the polished chamfered edges running the length of the lugs. It was just a suggestion, bearing in mind that they have introduced some new bezel colours etc that I really don’t like (sometimes it seems that Invicta just can’t help themselves) Regardless of what model you get, Invicta gives you one hell of a box; for better or worse the watchmaker knows how to treat their customers like royalty. Mine came in a pretty sizeable yellow one, reminiscent of what you get with a Rolex, albeit with swapped colors. While Stuhrling had a similarly extravagant box for its low MSRP, Invicta impressively pulls its weight with the watch’s quality, as you’ll read below. This is also a great choice if you’re just getting into watches. Borrowing its aesthetics from one of the most iconic and timeless designs in watch history, it’s a capable 200m diver. In the hands, it feels decent for the money, which puts me in a rather strange predicament. This 1953 is a good quality watch that’s also well-priced when available at retail cost.
