Description

This is an incredible fragrance. Great scent, smells like pineapple being sliced on a wooden cutting board, nothing further. This has to be one of the most heavy pineapple scents I’ve ever smelt. Although this does have a slight woody dry down to it, I can’t smell the oud as the base notes suggest, neither the floral/powdery notes. I base my impressions and review on a bottle I have owned since December 2022 (BC M05-22070075, PD 07.2022) The opening lasts just long enough for me, and when the woody notes begin to settle in, I’m just overjoyed by the luxury that this fragrance exudes. It’s a really nice balance between playful and serious. I enjoy the term “eastern fragrances for western noses” because that perfectly sums this one up for me. I wouldn’t recommend it for any one season over another, but so far this summer, I’m getting great-ish performance if I don’t work up too much of a sweat. On days where I have spent my time in A/C controlled environments, I would get whiffs of myself in the air, and the pineapple note sings a little harmony under the creamy, just almost smoky and mildly spicy woods. This isn't my favourite fragrance. It's not the best thing I've ever put my nose on etc. etc., but what it is is a sweet, decent performing fragrance that is WAAAAAAAY better than it has any right to be for the price. That's what makes it incredible. The mid is beautiful and it lasts for hours on end it's insane. The dirtiness of the Patchouli and the darkness of tobacco gives a contrast to the cleanliness of the iris. The woods and the vanilla give it this sexiness which would make the entire town want to punch you in the face and kiss you. This is super strong as well. A single spray can fill a room even when the opening has dried down to the mid. It smells very manly and mature so this can be challenging to wear if you don't dress for the occasion and at least bring a bit of seriousness to the table.

The drydown is a bit different from Elixir but the opening smells exactly like elixir, and with probably my favorite looking bottle in my collection (it's simply beautiful) I don't think I have any cons apart from the drydown being less spicy than elixir. I feel like this is probably best used layered with something that's a lot woodier, like maybe CDNIM. Whilst I now understand what everyone is on about with the sweet pineapple note, I can confirm it's not for me. This is AMAZING. It's for when you want to wear Sauvage EDT but to somewhere where you'd have to dress a little bit better like a high end club or a fancy dinner party. Rave Now bottle looks more unique. Like D&G The One wearing Rave clothing - there's a rubber mesh around the glass bottle. There's lots of plastic but everything feels nice and solid. For those familiar with high-end perfumes, Asad could be likened to Dior Sauvage Elixir's relative, boasting similar qualities without the high-end price. It's an affordable luxury, capable of standing shoulder-to-shoulder with industry heavyweights. This makes me feel like a serious trustworthy man with all of my goals in life on a straight line and I'm not here to waste my time. Quite the contrast to the vibe of Sauvage EDT where it feels like you're a Chad who'd rail her in a parking lot and then drive away on your Honda Civic without her. But the zingy spicy freshness is definitely the same for both of these perfumes but that's where the similarities end. What a nice blind buy. It opens so smooth and pineapply. Thankfully it's not as sharp or sweet as the Parfums Vintage samples, but the nose feel is comparable, and also the quality of the notes used. Leans more mature, a little more mature than elixer. Longevity and silage are still above average in my opinion. Elixer I get 12+ hours and can smell it in my clothing days later. I seriously don’t know how Lattafa supposedly cloned Sauvage Elixir with whole different and unrelated notes! Makes me think they lie a lot about their notes. Is it beige synthetic leather, fresh from the factory and treated with natural saffron and other substances to appear more natural, or is it a natural, sweet organic leather that has unfortunately been pimped out with synthetic apricot extract?

In addition, Qaa'ed is also a kind of leather scent. An attempt to make a vegan leather from fruit peels, one might suppose. OK so I am indeed re-reviewing Lattafa's Asad. Now I still get the overly pineapple smell but honestly, I now get more than it. I am not sure if it was maturation or what but originally, I did not get anything at all similar to Drakkar Noir (which many say Sauvage Elixir smells similarish to) nor do I get Dior Sauvage. Asad isn't a bad fragrance, but I am one of those that gets the sweet pineapple. When I've said this, many question if I got Lattafa Qaed Al Fursan but alas I have this bottle. It does have the gold ribbon/sash that the bottle shows in the main picture. Perhaps this is a batch variation issue? According to the general consensus, this is supposed to be a clone of Dior Sauvage Elixir. I haven’t smelt Sauvage elixir, though, so I’ll review this one as its own thing. all ages except the elderly or pregnant women, for whom the scent might be perceived as a little too chemical. What began as a fragrance I approached with skepticism has become a cornerstone of my collection. Asad is an embodiment of masculine grace and complexity. Its blend of spices and sweet resinous notes has matured into a sensory journey I deeply value. It earns a place as a distinguished addition to any advanced fragrance collection. Short version: Asad is a less heavy, less refined, but way more flexible fragrance than Elixir that is worth giving a test run if you like Elixir. Also, if you don't want to pay for or can't afford Elixir, Asad is literally 95% cheaper.

Great sharing ‘lad/ladette/non-binary’ Ibiza/Mykonos/Gran Canaria clubbing type holiday scent… smells expensive so date night friendly too… great GOTH scent as well…. So literally anyone… if you like spice you’ll like this. Nice box, Heavy ‘Meh’ bottle. I sprayed Bogoss on my left hand and QAF on my right, and at a first spray I almost preferred the Bogoss because it's a tad bit fresher and has some more "oomph" to it, I could hardly smell QAF when I tried to sniff my right hand. I don't even know if this has what could be called a "dry down" because hours on end this still smells like the mid and you have no choice besides taking a bath and washing your clothes to get that smell off and it's lovely. There are several Lattafa fragrances which are 1) highly regarded; but 2) not much cared for by me. Khamrah comes to mind immediately. However, the difference between Khamrah and Asad is that I can see *why* Khamrah has the rep and following it does; it might not be my kind of scent profile*, but damn, does Lattafa do a great job with it. I've smelled more than enough fragrances to appreciate the good ones even when they don't mesh with my tastes. Asad, though? Sorry guys, I've tried and tried but I can't get with it. Perhaps my bottle got baked in transit, I don't know. If there is anything that I can fault it on is that there isn't anything dark or heavy in the mix to balance it out but that could just be me.Now, Lattafa Asad opens up with a warm spicy accord, some dose of sweetness and a great amount of lavender. Al Fursan is a more traditional compact glass bottle with gold accents and a magnetic cap (similar to Sauvage). Sprayers are fine on both - they spray a short but wide puff of juice. A cream-coloured chesterfield sofa in a room with apricot-coloured walls comes to mind. This represents the fragrance very well.

Asad offers remarkable value, presenting quality that surpasses its price. Yet, a note of caution: this fragrance is a complex composition that may not cater to the novice. Its evolution on the skin is a process to be savored, rewarding the patience of a fragrance aficionado. As such, it may not be the best blind buy — those new to fragrances might instead opt for easily accessible popular mall fragrances like Paco Rabanne's 1 Million.

THE DRYDOWN HOWEVER... Is just so good. Beautifully blended peppery, woody, ambery, sweet... i can also smell some cinnamon in there. So i would suggest letting it drydown before other can smell it. In essence, Asad is a reminder that the finest scents, like life's most profound experiences, require time and belief to fully reveal their splendor. Performance is very good for such a cheapie. I can still smell it on my skin hours later despite having gone noseblind. Projection is very good. My friend from school told me she could smell it as she was coming down the stairs a few metres behind me even though i had just entered the building. In summary, if you put Qaed Al Fursan in a Parfums Vintage bottle and sprayed it on me (or yourself), you could fool me, maybe momentarilly, maybe all day. In drydown / after a few hours on the skin it is very pleasant and then milder nuances of woody and skin tones unfold.
