Our paint job was full of scratches and was so porous that we were unable to clean off spilt car polish from the bull bar. Adam had used a foam polishing disc with a plastic polish to tidy up our head lights. A little polish spilled onto the raptor coated bull bar and it was like the polish had absorbed into the paintwork. It couldn’t be sufficiently cleaned and ended up staining the bull bar permanently. Finding the space – we don’t have our own garage and air compressor, so we need to borrow the space again. The product can be applied using a roller, brush or a spray gun. When spraying, a 6 HP compressor with a 150 PSI line pressure is recommended. A variety of different finish textures can be achieved by increasing or decreasing the PSI. Raptor paint is meant to flog out of the gun, but in our case, it didn’t spray out of the gun the way that it is designed to. Why did the raptor paint fail? After spending 50+ hours repairing all the damaged panel work on the car, it was time to begin the next stage of preparation. We mixed the tintable raptor coat, automotive tint and hardener together and cleaned the spray gun between each bottle. This was all executed perfectly. The professional spray gun has an adjustable nozzle which enables complete control over the volume of paint flow. This was probably set too fine. Up to 10% solvent-based automotive paint can be added to Raptor Tintable products. Flat colours are recommended rather than metallics. Some acrylic basecoats can have a high colour strength, so less than 10% tint will be needed. Raptor must not be moxed with water based, polyester or enamel paints. Where possible, ask your paint supplier to leave out the binders for best pigment quality. Developed to tolerate most climatic conditions, it is UV resistant and won’t fade or ‘chalk’ in sunlight. Raptor is waterproof and will protect surfaces from rust. This makes it perfect for exposed surfaces and even surfaces submerged in water, including salt water.
