I have to admit that, during that particular evening, I was so preoccupied witnessing for the first-time music being created live on stage, I completely forgot the whole point of being there. Of the 15 players that started the All-Ireland final, 13 took the field against the Emmet’s – Danny McDermott coming in for Tiarnan Flanagan, while the one new/old face, Ciaran McFaul, has yet to make the major impact expected. Talking about the guitar and letting Bert Weedon down, I’ve recently taken comfort in the fact that there was at least one other person, apart from myself, in Bert’s two million followers who didn’t succeed… Magherafelt High School, where David was Principal for five years after a period as vice-principal in the school, paid tribute to David saying that it "flourished under his leadership" as he worked tirelessly for it and the local community.
