The new Portal does have a Trap slot but the use of villains is quite diminished, instead of playing as a villain it just provides your vehicle with a boost and gives you a corresponding Skystone for the new minigame Skystones Overdrive. While all of your existing Skylanders can drive all of the vehicles only the new SuperChargers can upgrade and modify them.

After playing this and Trap Team again for nostalgias sake, I'm actually enjoying this more than TT.
