The sort of comedy that hit right away, but the more you went over it in your head, the funnier it became. There's a lot of depth to this story, and the characters experience a variety of emotions (and you will too).

Don’t get me wrong - it was super cute and sweet… but I didn’t realize going into this book that it would be a duel timeline (which I’m never a fan of ) with multiple missed chances and years of both of them secretly pining after each other… only to be followed up by fake dating which finally gives them the opportunity to act how they both always wanted to. but Meyer has been Farley’s closest and most treasured friend, not to mention vital to the trajectory of her career. It’s funny and real and a great way to see two people who thought it was never going to happen between them finally get there. It doesn't take long for their act to bring all those other funny feelings out into the open, and, like most matters of the heart, it quickly begins to feel like anything but a joke. The only thing she loves more than the rush of telling jokes in front of a revved-up audience is her hot older manager Meyer, though he doesn’t have a clue.Going tit for tat with the man you hate is all fun and games until things get literal…and the jerk sees you naked. She's fun, loud, endearing, and absolutely hilarious, and at no point did I find her to be obnoxious or annoying. This book doesn’t shy away from the messier aspects of the main characters’ inner thoughts and emotional turmoil, but it also balances those out with loads of laughs, stirring feels, and a touch of steam. Unfortunately the latter half of the story loses its way, and all that lovely momentum starts to fade.
