I would guess that Intel's 14th generation will ditch DDR4 for good, but as of now, DDR4 compatibility is one thing that the i9-13900K has going for it over the Ryzen 9 7900X3D. No doubt the 7800X3D will be popular, and releasing six weeks after the two Ryzen 9 processors may allow the top-tier to stretch their legs a little. But a lot will depend on performance, especially given the ongoing battle between Zen 4 and Intel’s Raptor Lake processors. The Ryzen 9 7900X3D and Ryzen 9 7900X are both high-end desktop processors from AMD, both based on the Zen 4 architecture and manufactured on the TSCM 5nm process node. Overall, no one will be disappointed with this chip's performance, however pretty much everything else is a better option, I am overall happy with the chip however I do have some buyers remorse as the alternatives either, perform better or cost less and potentially in the case of the 7800X3D - both!
