Just look at something like the Lamy Vista, which would be an ideal candidate but has two holes running along the side of the body. What I missed with the Prera and only noticed when inked up was that the inner barrel features some subtle faceting that runs almost to the lower band. From my experience with Kung Te Cheng and Whaleman's Sepia, I'd imaine flow might be an issue in any pen that isn't already very wet. The Prera has interested me for a while, but I’ve never managed to figure out why Pilot doesn’t sell it in the UK. One might argue that the gold nibs are shaped and tipped more artfully with boundaries surrounding the sweet spot on the tipping to offer precision and control for kanji and chinese characters but smoothness suffers.

Honestly, I got a Sailor Sapporo from Japan - with its wonderful (gold) nib - for less than the cost of a Prera in the UK, which is just crazy. I can say that without reservation because there are no other pens out today that offer the same blend of style, comfort, smoothness, and value. This could ruin the pen, affect the color of the ink, affect the longevity of the ink on paper, or cause pen leaks over time.

I can spend pages and pages just writing paens to the Prera, so let's get into the specifics of why this is such a great pen! The available nib options- like the Metropolitan – include fine and medium with a 1MM stub only available on the blue and black models. The Prera is a demonstrator and has a clear plastic body with some colored accents on the ends (reminds me of the old iMac designs from ’99).

But I have no issues or discomfort at all after using this pen to draw or journal for an extended period. In fact, aside from the diminutive size, the Prera’s only usability issue is the step down from barrel to section, which is a little sharp and can irritate. Please join our discord server while we are shut down in protest of the recent Reddit API changes: https://discord. Katherine: When I first discovered the Prera (thanks, Internet) I wasn’t thrilled at the idea of spending twice as much as a Metro on a pen with the same nib.

This is sad, as the company was originally built on this type of pen and in Japan they offer an enormous range of them. If anyone has any tips for getting that flat little disk to screw in tightly, I'd love to hear them. Good value for the money and the size is about the same as my Pelikan m150 which is one of my favorite pens.I do think that Pilot’s lower end pens like the Kakuno and the Metropolitan, as well as the others, are lacking in design for those who don’t have small hands, wanting something of affordable quality, and those wanting something that doesn’t feel like a toy, and that’s disappointing I think.

An eyedropper is a fountain pen that does not have a filling mechanism of its own, rather it uses an eyedropper (or pipette, etc. I needed a very fine pen to use on inventory sheets at work and since my regular pens even with a western fine were too wide and too wet I think this will fit the bill perfectly. The Prera uses a friction fit cap with a white inner sleeve (that really should be clear so you can see the nib) to keep the nib from drying out.I usually cap-uncapped the pen approximately 20 times throughout the day since I tend to jot lots of quick notes during work.
