Currently, he lives in Hertfordshire, England. He is married and is a father of four. He has also written poems and short novels. He has written amazing Book Series such as Conqueror. Emperor, Wars of the Roses and Dangerous Books for Boys. The Gates of Rome The story tells of the early years of Temujin, or Genghis Khan as most people would know him. We begin in the Pre-Teen years of Genghis and we learn how his relationship with his father and his brother, molded him into the man he would become. The novel covers much the sparsely documented childhood experience from his family's banishment, to his imprisonment and on toward his ultimate quest for victory. And while there are those thousands of readers who don't know the history enough to know that this book is an alternate history, there sure are thousands that do. I don't even know much about this history, and yet I can see it. A gripping read from the master historical storyteller. This swords-and-sandals epic brings the clash of empires between Greece and Persia to life' DAILY EXPRESS As the opening book of a series, this was really good. It sets the stage for what is to come, with an interesting setting and set of characters. For some reason it seemed a little bit too simple, in that the storyline, the number of important characters and the area in which the story takes place are all really limited; but then again, this is only the first book, and it serves its purpose as an introduction and a taste of what is to come. So far, I must say that the series is not quite as good as Iggulden’s Emperor series, but it definitely has the potential for it.

That’s about it for the moment. If you’d like to get in touch with me leave a comment in the forum or you can tweet me @Conn_Iggulden. I’ll leave it there for the moment. If you’ve read my books, you know an awful lot about the way I think already. There’s no point overdoing it. The only character I found slightly tantalizing was the slave girl Alexandria; there is potentially an interesting story there, but I'm not particularly inspired to read the rest of the series. The time for Julius Caesar to indulge in treacherous political battles has come. His great courage to face slave rebellion, love for a beautiful older woman and the sword of his loyal friend, Marcus Brutus has strengthened him. Once his rank is promoted, he is able to do what no other leaders of his era did. The author writes in third person with the center of the narrative being the main character. The narrative's focus shifts to other characters' perspectives from time to time if their separate activities are significant in advancing the plot. The language is simple English with some actual Mongolian words used for commonplace objects to provide the necessary historical effect.A gripping read from the master historical storyteller. He sends off emissaries who end up dead after immense torture. His trade routes are faced with violent rebellion. Khan: Empire of Silver

He is going to assemble a group of heroes. They are a dead man, a gambler, a hunter, a wielder of threads. And there is the sword saint of Shiang. Women and men that once aided Darien during her time of need. They will surely come if he calls. Darien herself gets threatened, Tellius is going to ask them to stand. Aunque parezca extraño, se conoce bastante de los primeros años de la vida de Temujin, quizá con datos un poco tendenciosos, ya que la crónica de su vida que él mismo mandó escribir y que se perdió en formato escrito, se conservó en la tradición oral china. Leave it to Conn Iggulden to tell the tale of a legendary historical figure in the most captivating and spectacular fashion…

There is a small amount of sex in the book. There are several instances where sex between the characters is implied. Beyond consensual sex, there were several instances of rape. Most of the instances were comments that rape had occurred or would occur but there was one scene in which there was an attempted rape. While it was not graphic, there was some mild description of previous instances. One of the characters states his wish to use the service of a prostitute on several occasions. Overall, the sexual content served as context for the time and was not graphic. I now conclude that I love reading about military and war fiction/non-fiction. I'm also currently reading The Thousand Names by Django Wexler, and I'm enjoying it a lot. Both focused heavily on war and military. I will surely read more of the genre.

He was born Temujin, the son of a khan, raised in a clan of hunters migrating across the rugged steppe. Temujin's young life was shaped by a series of brutal acts: the betrayal of his father by a neighboring tribe and the abandonment of his entire family, cruelly left to die on the harsh plain. But Temujin endured--and from that moment on, he was driven by a singular fury: to survive in the face of death, to kill before being killed, and to conquer enemies who could come without warning from beyond the horizon. As time goes by, the two boys meet, become friends and get trained as Rome’s gladiators. They are later forced to take different paths and the next time they meet, a lot will have changed… Death of Kings It’s the second book in the series and focuses on Julius Caesar as a man, warrior, senator, leader, and a husband. My only complaint is that so many of these great leaders and names have sadly departed for the rewards of the Elysian Fiields, but I’m sure that other heroes will emerge.

There are two problems I have with this work. One is subjective, the other objective. The subjective one is the style. I can't stand it. It's plain when it should be flowery and plain when it should be exciting and when it's supposed to be tragic it's still plain. I can find nothing in here that really appeals to me apart from a pretty generic action/adventure plot. The style is almost nonexistent and the story is paper thin. Even if he had included every fact known to make this the most accurate fictional work on Caesar ever, I would still find it a bad book. His childhood experiences created the man he would become, who would not bend or allow fear or weakness in any form. He cared nothing for possessions or wealth, only that his enemies fall.” Yesugei is eventually be

Genghis Khan's rise to power is one of the most incredible stories ever told. It's a story of betrayal, hardship, violence, ambition and revenge. While a lot of these aspects were carried over into this book, I was still a bit disappointed with the pace of the story, especially early on. For the first half of this book Temujin suffers betrayal and scorn at every turn. Despite often vowing revenge he doesn't achieve anything before running into the next conflict. All of these conflicts building up, with no resolution in sight, made it really difficult foe me to enjoy these parts of the book. His English was refined at the University of London. For seven years, he was an English teacher at Haydon School where he later became the head of English department. He let go of the teaching career and wrote his first novel, The Gates of Rome.

Which really makes me wonder: why didn’t he just right a Fantasy novel? I’ve actually read Fantasy novels that hewed closer to true events than this one (example: The Sarantine Mosaic, Videssos, etc.). I’ve even read Fantasy books given historical settings (The Once and Future King, the Belisarius series, ). The whole point of historical fiction is to make at least some effort to ground the story historically. Otherwise what’s the point? Whereas with Fantasy anything goes. And the only explanation I can think of is that he wanted to give his Fantasy story name recognition. Otherwise why pretend? This is the last book in this series. Here, Julius Caesar has been assassinated and a bloody revenge from a mourning nation is bound to be executed. He was killed by one of his most trusted allies. Currently, the self-appointed Liberatores run for refuge in the senate neglecting the power of Caesar’s adopted son, Octavian.
