Description

When a rogue 19-year-old witch is recruited to help guard an ancient magical Bestiary, mystery and danger ensue. The series might take you on a rollercoaster of emotions or provide a steady companion on lazy Sunday afternoons. Which is when a mysterious and annoyingly arrogant young warlock named Wade Crowley steps in, introducing her to a hidden world of beasts, magicals, and covens riddled with secrets - as well as clues about her murky past. As she begins to learn who she is, she uncovers a terrible hidden past about herself and her family.

Audible wants to give you the most complete selection we can and we'll keep adding series and filling in gaps as quickly as possible. But overall it was quite predictable and the writing was not great (“my heart fluttered like an obese butterfly” was probably my favourite, though I don’t think it was intended to be funny. She has been passed through quite a number of foster homes and has had some very bad experiences in all but the last one; The last foster home was with the Smith family. I bought this book on the basis of the number of very positive reviews, particularly those comparing the book to the Harry Potter series.Yes it has ever so slight samesy situations as Harry Potter, like orphanened, magic and there’s a kind of school element I guess. Wade is a brilliant warlock with no social skills who is drawn to Harley from the beginning but equally repelled by her empath abilities. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. To answer a question as vital as the number of coffee cups consumed while reading, there are exactly 20 books in the Harley Merlin series.

Harley is introduced to the San Diego coven, and starts to learn how to properly channel her abilities. I enjoy reading, is fresh and funny, i think it can't be compare with Harry Potter, it's no the same premise and public, this book for me it's a little more like Riverdale with magic. So I can see why it’s been likened to the adult Harry Potter, but honestly until reviews were read, I didn’t even think about HP. However the book does have some positive elements (hence the three star rating); it is well written, there are a few well crafted action sequences and the story had a couple of original ideas around how magic might be used in a magical society.

But she has no clue where she got these freakish powers because she spent her childhood jumping from home to home in the foster system, and her father left her with nothing more than a cryptic note. It took my a while to start reading the fever series, the description of them just didn’t sound like something I would be into.
