Description

The GPS Pro provides a battery life of up to 16 hours when connected to your iOS device via Bluetooth, and supports a GPS reporting rate of 10 times per second (configurable).

Note also that the same screens above work with the original Bad Elf 1000 dongle-style GPS Receiver , which I tested alongside the Dual XPS Bluetooth GPS. The Bad Elf app will also summarize Trip Details and thus you can see how fast and high I traveled during that 11/3 tracking session.I don’t know when it will happen but it could be a neat feature (if marine apps learn to take in 0183 over BT the way they do over WiFi). This utility app allows owners of any Bad Elf GPS accessory to check the health of the Bad Elf hardware, view the GPS data being received, transfer and view trip logs, and install firmware updates. I bought this to go with my iPad and Sky Demon navigation software and it works perfectly and is very easy to connect and it is fast.

ELF WARNING: Consumption of too much Winter’s Ale may be bad for your elf and may impair your ability to drive a sleigh or operate toy-making machinery. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed, John, and I heard this today from one of the principal Elves: “Still lots of improvements and new features to roll out over the coming months, but the feedback from early adopters has been very positive. Der Preis ist sicher etwas hoch, relativiert sich aber, da keine monatlichen Folgekosten wie bei anderen Lösungen anfallen. If you require an RTK survey-grade rover for use more than 30 to 40 days a year, consider the Extreme bundle. The device itself is little bigger than the 30-way connector to which it is designed to attach and is a teeny 27mm x 33mm x 10mm in size, it has a microUSB socket on it's bottom and an adjacent status LED and is designed (and very importantly Apple approved) to plug in via the Apple 30-way sync connector. No need to guess the meaning of blinking LED indicators or leave your favorite app to check the status of your GPS receiver.

Unless there are interventions (such as a subscription service providing corrections) there is generally very little you can do to improve your accuracy.

hang this off your bow, or attach it to a float above your anchor, to reduce false alarms as a boat swings about? And note that as nice as Apple iOS is about distributing GPS position info to all apps, it does not seem capable of sharing accuracy and satellites-in-use detail for the GPS built into some iPads (which also cost more with the GPS). I tried logging points directly on the device, and while the machine beeps to indicate a completed log, when I go back to view the logs, they show as zero points collected.
