So I wanted to give this comic book sequel a read, especially as I heard a lot of good things about it. While little is known about some of these projects, it is known that Jessica Biel was signed on to play the roles of both Shannon and Brandy in Invisible Monsters, which was supposed to begin filming in 2004, but as of 2010 [update] was still in development. Expedition is a short-story prequel to Fight Club, released in Palahniuk's Make Something Up: Stories You Can't Unread.

Through his position as leader of Project Mayhem, Tyler uses his power to become a "God/Father" to the "space monkeys" (the other members of Project Mayhem), although by the end of the novel his words hold more power than he does, as is evident in the space monkeys' threat to castrate the Narrator when he contradicts Tyler's rule.

This motif shows his desire for chaos, later expressed by the Narrator as an urge to "destroy something beautiful". While on the road in support of Diary, Chuck began reading a short story entitled 'Guts,' which would eventually become part of the novel Haunted. When he seeks treatment, his doctor advises him to visit a support group for testicular cancer victims to "see what real suffering is like". Marla has grown tired of suburban life, resuming her habit of infiltrating support groups and ultimately resurrects Tyler Durden full time by replacing her husband's medication with placebos so she could have "an affair with Tyler". Cameron Stewart, the comic artist of Fight Club 2 and 3, described Tyler's visual appearance in the novel as looking sort of like Chris Hemsworth as Thor (2011).

At turns deeply poignant and very funny, Palahniuk’s freakish fables capture a twisted zeitgeist and add an oddly inspirational and subversive voice to the contemporary canon…. He was nominated for the 1999 Oregon Book Award for Best Novel for Survivor and for the Bram Stoker Award for Best Novel for Lullaby in 2002 and for Haunted in 2005.Paul Skinner has also echoed this sentiment, stating, "the anger and dissatisfaction of the male characters is against one type of masculinity being suppressed by post-industrial consumerist society". And the gorgeous covers by David Mack, one of my favourite artists ever, is icing on the cake, making this book visually flawless. Initially Fight Club was published as a seven-page short story in the compilation Pursuit of Happiness (1995), [9] but Palahniuk expanded it to novel length (in which the original short story became chapter six); Fight Club: A Novel was published in 1996. citation needed] Three editions of the novel have been published in paperback, in 1999, in 2004 (with a new introduction by the author about the success of the film adaptation), and in 2005 (with an afterword by Palahniuk). I mean, I get that it was probably an artistic choice that means something on a deeper level, but it just comes off as unnecessary and frankly a bit pretentious.
