I would highly recommend everyone reads this book because it's one of the most entertaining and imaginative books I have read this year, that will keep you guessing until the end! Throughout the book, Joe is pulled back and forth between his father and grandfather, wanting to do the "right" thing but discovering that the world no rewards him for following the rules.

I am admittedly the unluckiest person alive, so to say I was SHOCKED when I won an arc of this is an understatement! Not a situation that sits well with an ex superspy trained since school, and used to living on a continuously moving train at 150mph or in a Submarine. It has parts that will make you laugh out loud, huge amounts of suspense, action and criminal behavior with a tiny tiny dash of romance. Joe gives her his hand, and she places his hand, palm down, on her chest and leans firmly towards him…With the heel of his hand Joe can feel the curve of one breast.Another is Detective Laurence Page who is listening to classical music, and doesn’t know that he will be working the Hobbes case when he wakes up in the morning. It even feels a bit Gothic in places reinforced by the appearance and atmosphere of the half burnt house. When she is close she sees the individual elements, but when she stands back she sees the big picture.

The incident has far-reaching consequences not least the guilt carried by his sister Katie who feels she lets him down. Like our man Joe, England looks its best reflected in polished brass, and yes, England would very much like it if hats came back.
