Of course they did not always have it easy. Every marriage has its ups and downs, right? Seems like their marriage has a tiny weeny bigger down… I liked one of the main characters, Mags, and found I became the most involved during her perspective. I’m crazy in love with this book for many many reasons none of which I can tell you otherwise I’ll spoil it and then prevent you from falling crazy in love with this book. But Jennifer is determined to find out the truth of the cause of her husband’s death, and find out what Sara role has been in all this. What exactly does Sara want from Jennifer? MY THOUGHTS: The Girlfriend by Michelle Frances is a good, but not great read. It is a little slow in places, and I was not particularly enthusiastic about the ending. The level of suspense varies, and I found that some situations that ought to have been suspenseful just weren't. The opening chapter, a scene from later in the book, didn't work for me. I imagine it was designed to increase the reader's anticipation, but it did nothing to increase mine. This is one book where the story should have just started at the beginning and continued to slowly build up the tension until the final denouement.

Jennifer’s world falls apart when she hears that her husband Cole has died in a Car accident. But a few days later her life is going to get worse when there is a woman at the front door claiming to Cole’s girlfriend with a baby in tow, who is the spitting image of Cole. The woman Sarah also claims that has saved their business buy buying into it which means the house and everything in it is hers. At first Jennifer thinks she is going to be evicted. When instead of evicting her, she wants to move in. One day Jennifer have a happy life and marriage, the next thing it's all chaos. When her husband Cole suddenly died from a car accident, a woman suddenly appears from their doorstep, claiming to be Cole's girlfriend and holding their baby. Jennifer's life turned upside down when she learns the truth about her husband's betrayal. Not to mention their property and money.I didn't like this book, there was too much I didn't like over the few that I did to redeem it for me, even with the ending. I think people will like this book, it just wasn't for me, but dont let my opinion alone discourage you from reading it if it sounds like something you will be interested in. I like a book that draws me in with just a few chapters. This book has it and it got me hooked. I didn't even expect to finish it sooner due to my reading slump. I get easily bored and distracted but I kept reading.

The Girlfriend is a gripping and chilling debut psychological thriller, based on the fall-out following an unforgiveable lie. It looks at the potentially charged relationship between girlfriend, boyfriend and his mother, which most women can identify with, and locates it in an extreme but believable setting. The characters are fantastic and interesting. There were the ones I liked, some I had issue with and some I wasn't sure about. This kept me on my toes and invested in the plot. This book also had me questioning what I would do in this situation. This book kept me on my toes! I enjoyed this book, which will be RELEASED JANUARY 30, 2018. Thanks so much to NetGalley for the opportunity to review this novel. When the doorbell rings, just days after my beloved husband’s sudden death, I don’t recognise the woman on our doorstep, with buttery blonde highlights and a diamond bracelet identical to my own.Telling your children their father is dead is hard enough, how do you explain the woman who shows up at your door to inform you that she is your husband's girlfriend and the baby in her arms is his child??? This is a definite entertaining read but for some reason it just fell short for me and didn't live up to the full hype. The actions of the characters were a bit unbelievable at times for me and I was expecting a tad more. This novel, set in Kensington, England, pits the two women that love twenty-three-year-old medical student Daniel against each other: His mother Laura and his new girlfriend Cherry. Daniel never wanted for anything growing up. Cherry, on the other hand, lived in poverty and is desperate for a way out, even if it means lying a bit on her resume and pushing her mother out of her life as much as possible. This book was not was I was expecting but I don’t mean that in a negative way, I guess I was thinking it would be fast paced, intense and twisty and instead it was slower, with a subtle intensity and while it definitely had some surprises it wasn’t as twisty as I had imagined it would be. I do think it’s best to go into this knowing as little as possible about the plot so I won’t be delving into that too much, you really need to discover things on your own to fully appreciate this book. Mira -Abe and Jody`s neighbour who may or may not know more about Abe`s accident than she is letting on.

But Sara has an idea. A compromise, albeit somewhat unconventional. She wants her baby to have a family. To have siblings, something she never had. And so she proposes that she and baby Rory move in with Jennifer and her children, and share the house that Sara said Cole had promised was to be theirs. Is she out of her mind? Even moreso, is Jennifer? For even considering it? Thank you to NetGalley, Kensington Books and Michelle Frances for a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review. Laura has a very close ( almost too close) relationship with her son and she soon starts to question Cherry's motives for being with him. Thank you so much Sourcebooks for providing my free copy of THE GIRLFRIEND by Sarah Naughton - all opinions are my own.Well, for her first book it was damn great!! Such a thrilling story! So compelling! She enraged me with those characters! Howard for his damn coolness about his family! Actually I think his family didn’t matter to him! Daniel with all his naivety that chose his NEW girlfriend above his MOTHER! Oh, Cherry!!! I liked her (she was so smart) and at the same time I despised her! She was quite a character! There was little money when Cherry was growing up. She wanted to escape from her poverty life. She was jealous of everything, most about people with money. She couldn't bear other reject her for some reasons. And when she met Daniel, she takes this opportunity to save herself. And Laura! I really liked her. Of course she did something really wrong but at that moment maybe she thinks it was the best thing to do, she was so desperate for being with her son. I liked that with everything Cherry did, she didn’t stop confronting her. Even though Daniel was an adult, she did everything she thought was right to protect him. I loved that. My only complaint is about the ending. It was slow and simple, I expected something more exciting for the ending! and later Jody thinking, " ...panting, perhaps with the adrenaline rush of a narrow escape, or maybe just because he's fat."

Thank you to Sourcebooks for sending me a copy of The Girlfriend by Sarah Naughton. I devoured this book yesterday. The twists and turns were on POINT! This story is read with multiple POVs with fast chapters. The baby in the stranger's arms? Well, it's HIS home too... because this child is your husband's child...and this stranger wasn't quite a stranger to your husband: she was his girlfriend. Cherry comes home and realises her things have been touched, and so the sinister and clever mind games start to unfold.... All at Lauras expense.

When Laura finds out about Cherry she is hurt at first but then seems excited as she could be like the daughter she lost. Two police officers are there to share the horrible news. Cole died on the side of the road after rolling his car. Jennifer of course is devastated. How does she tell her kids? How will she possibly move on?
