Description

Measuring 14.5″ wide x 16″ deep (368x406mm) the new Aperta Sub XL brings the patented IsoAcoustics isolation technology to larger subwoofers of up to 160 lbs / 72.5 kg. Taming the power of such mighty speakers is no easy feat, but IsoAcoustics managed to build on the design of the Aperta Sub for smaller subwoofers to perfectly support heavier models. We are always impartial in our testing and ensure we take time to build and set up the speaker stands properly and securely. We'll use a variety of speakers to place on the stands to see how well it copes with different sizes and designs, as well as the impact the stand's materials have on the system's overall performance. Designed and manufactured in the UK to specifically fit the Sonos one, one SL, and gen 1 play: 1 all cable ports and buttons remain easily accessible when in use. The floor stands feature acoustic padding to eliminate audio vibrations and improve sound quality by raising your speakers from surfaces and placing them at optimal listening height. Both strong and stable they are extremely easy to set up with adjustable feet for leveling and sound dampening, the upright tube is designed for the power cable to run through creating a neat and uncluttered finish. The inclusion of a remote app and ARC room correction make for useful features you won’t find on competing subwoofers with more power and deeper frequency response. Setup and control are both easy thanks to this app, and ARC ensures that the bass is smooth and perfectly integrated with the rest of the system.

Manufacturers such as SVS and Paradigm even offer remote apps that allow you to complete setup and control of the subwoofer using a smart device. They also include a degree of bass correction, allowing users to optimise the sub’s performance based on the room’s acoustics. What’s the best place to put a subwoofer? If you don’t like the idea of running subwoofer cables all over your living room, some brands offer optional wireless modules that pass the full-range audio signal with no latency, thus eliminating clutter. Other subs are designed to be used only as part of a wireless system. Personally, I love bass, the depth and realism it adds to my music so I will almost always recommend a subwoofer if the budget allows.

We also try the subwoofer out in various positions around the room in which we’re testing as this has a noticeable impact on sonic performance. Subwoofers are tested using whichever connection methods they support, be they physical or wireless, and we assess how easy the sub is to incorporate into your current home audio system.

A subwoofer adds depth and volume to your music without being overwhelming. Whatever you listen to, be it classical or RnB, a subwoofer can enhance your music experience.

Always look for the RMS (continuous) power output, because this reflects the normal performance of the sub. The peak or dynamic power numbers relate to the maximum output over a short period of time, which can be very deceptive in terms of actual performance. Option 1 - RCA Subwoofer Cable: You will typically connect most subwoofers to your amplifiers pre out, or dedicated subwoofer output using a subwoofer cable. One of the best spots to place your subwoofer is in an elevated position in your living room. It is much better to place it inside a cabinet or on a table of some sort to ensure that you get the best experience. For the subwoofer to work properly and not be locatable, the crossover between satellite and subwoofer should be set below about 90Hz, and that means the satellite ideally needs to have a decent response down to 70Hz or so. Anything above that starts to intrude into the mid-range and the subwoofer will become locatable. The THX organisation recommends crossing over at 85Hz, and I've found that to be a good starting point in most cases. Practical Placement Bass management is the process of removing the bass element of the signal fed to each satellite speaker, and routing it instead to one or more subwoofers. In essence this is no different to a normal crossover — it's just that the bass driver happens to be housed in a separate enclosure, and there needs to be some sort of mixing facility included to combine the low-frequency contributions from at least two channels.

To conclude everything that we have said, we have tried to identify the best spot to place a subwoofer for someone with a standard home. They use premium quality robust material to stand strong enough to hold up to two hundred pounds weight. Moreover, it comes in an ideal shape to be compatible with the subwoofers and loudspeakers. IsoAcoustics isolation prevents the subwoofer vibrations from reflecting on the supporting surface, eliminating muddy bass smear and revealing greater clarity and definition.
