Now and regarding the 6dB added in the high range by the MG-30 in STUDIO DIRECT mode: it makes sense, to me. While I'm there: as already mentioned in post 32, I now use the "send" plug of the FX loop as a "normal" output for FX's. I tried to find a schematic to see if it wasn’t a simple switch to DC right at the input, and something that I could modify but I haven’t found one yet.

and not without precising that many MFX's had previously failed to replace my old GT10 in 4CM (including the Nux Cerberus). It doesn't make a difference in how it sounds obviously, but it adds a sense of interaction to the experience that makes it way more enjoyable to tweak the thing compared to the, for example, boring red horizontal scroll bars on other modelers *cough Helix cough*. Are they accurate, no idea, but to be honest I don't generally hunt for *that sound*, more often, a good one will do.I owned and played through the real thing for years and the MG-30 was the closest to that experience out of all the modelers I have owned. Do you think it would be possible to introduce a physical EQ pedal into the loop after the S/R for further tone shaping, given the parametric EQ is right at the front of the chain?

On the contrary studio speakers at home can help a lot to tweak your presets (still with mono sounds, and loud stereo backing tracks). Classic phenomena, which has nothing to do with digital/analog, and everything with the context you apply a sound, and what reference you use to dial in. Or use a para eq at the front of the chain, and lose a slot, but more importantly, lose the effect altogether, which is a bummer. To compare for instance to the curves in the second picture, obtained from an "analog modeler": my Mesa TA15 tube head, tested through its voxy channel (in white) then through the three modes of its red channel: Tweed (Fender emulation, in green), H1 (Marshall emulation, in blue) and H2 (Boogie emulation, in pink). For example, the MG-30 can act as a pure effects unit that can be looped in before and after the preamp using the four-cable method. Lots of "body" in the tone and it loves harmonics, which is where most modelers usually get disqualified. Every (not so high end) modeler I have used so far has just sounded good enough to be used in a band context. I'd really suggest what I did in the beginning: book the rehearsal room only for you 2 or 3 times (one hour or a little more each session, but not much more because your ears will not "respond" properly anyway after a short while and will deceive you).

You can flatten STUDIO DIRECT output mode by putting the para EQ just after the guitar input and by setting it as shown in my screenshot of Quicktone (PIC 5). But that's exactly why I like it, the tone is recording-ready, no "annoying" frequencies like with some other devices but pretty well balanced and pleasant to the ear.

A thing that I do is sending NUX FX's to a real tube amp through the "send" jack plug, while the same FX's are sent simultaneously to a digital amp model in the MG30, itself plugged direct to the board. With the use of the free Nux Quick Tone™ software you will be able to easily edit your sound parameters with precision, upload patches, load third party IR (impulse response) and even configure the routing of the USB audio stream. To continue my topic: I'll try to find my own preEQing solution for high gain models and will share it below (as my "flattening preEQ" is just for the MG30 used as a virtual pedal platform).There were one or two more hollow archtops (like the Godin models previously posted) among the vast sea of solidbodies, semis, and flattops. Any magnetic pickup is nothing else than a RLC filter so the triangular shape generated is logical (NOTE for geeks: I don't use any "integrator" circuit because I dislike to falsify resonant peaks. The sounds are exactly the same as the HX Stomp but it's just that little bit simpler to use, and if you aren't going to be doing all the split signal chain stuff etc it'll do everything you want. A lot of multi effects have this these days but almost non of them let you access the drums and looper in 1 screen.
