One important change I noticed was the waterproof material covers the entire toe box. This feature, which Puma dubbed the “PWRFRAME,” gives the top of the shoe a more uniform look. It also provides some functional benefits which I will talk about later on. The 2022 Puma IGNITE Articulate Disc golf shoe upgrades its waterproofing material for the most comfortable spiked golf shoe that can withstand any condition without the hassle of laces. PUMA have always been a front runner when pushing the boundaries to design trendy yet functional golf shoes and the GS-Fast, an update on their much talked about RS-G Golf Shoes, certainly continues that trend. These are a statement shoe for those players wanting to complete a streetwear look on the course. Admittedly these shoes will not be everyone's cup of tea and we did get several comments about them from playing partners and other members of the golf course when we first tested them out.

Style is inherently subjective but there’s nothing inherently off-putting about the PUMA IGNITE Articulate. For those of you who have bemoaned the modern style of the two BOA shoes I’ve reviewed so far, the relatively conventional design should help you sleep easier tonight. Articulation Geometry - Strategically placed grooves in the outsole, midsole, and upper provide points for the shoe to move with your foot whilst providing the ultimate level of support and comfort The flexibility of the shoe is a good bit of what I love about the design but with all of that bending and flexing comes some squeaking. It seems to originate where the upper overlaps with the PWRCAGE structure. I only notice it from time to time (usually when I’m walking around and getting ready to blow an eight-foot putt six feet past the cup) but it’s there. For golfers who appreciate a little freedom of movement, there’s a lot to love about the P UMA IGNITE Articulate. When the sizing is right, it’s extremely comfortable right out of the box. There’s plenty of traction, your feet have some opportunity to explore and stability is still pretty damned good considering the nature of the design. The IGNITE Articulate is Puma Golf's most versatile performance shoe to date. Every component of these spiked shoes has been precisely developed to move with the golfer's foot during the swing, from the Articulation Geometry on the outsole, midsole, and upper to the cushioning of the Ignite foam.This was clear to feel when I slipped them on and it became even more obvious when I began to walk the course and take my swings. The shoe was no burden on my feet, I had no blisters despite wearing them for the first time, and I’d say they were fairly light on my feet too.

I don’t have what you might call “quiet feet” in the golf swing so a shoe that wants to work with my feet instead of against them is ideal. Upon first glance, the 2022 Puma IGNITE Articulate Disc golf shoe does not stray too far from the looks that have been so popular in previous iterations. The adjustable disc rids users of laces while the associated cord wraps the top of the shoe with two plastic tabs. The tongue does not separate from the foot opening as seen in previous IGNITE versions. The best golf shoes above are split into spiked (or cleated) and spikeless designs and there are pros and cons of each. Spiked golf shoes offer better grip and stability but don't sit as low to the ground as spikeless models. The Puma IGNITE series has long been known for their comfort, and the Articulate Disc series is no exception. The latest version has improved its foam sole base and well padded interior which allowed my feet to be supported without any rigidity. Once I put them on, I knew the adjustment period would be short. The disc lacing made it easy and efficient to adjust the shoes to my liking. IGNITE Foam– Revolutionary or not, IGNITE is PUMA’s take on a responsive (and foam-cushioning) midsole material. It’s all part of what PUMA calls “Comfort Construction.”I know some of you obsess over such things, so it’s my job to let you know, but it’s not a deal-breaker for me. I’m actually trying to figure out how to use it to my advantage on the golf course. The first is, as I mentioned, the wide version isn’t as wide as some other wide shoes. My feet are only kinda fat, so I’m good, but the width could be problematic for guys with really fat feet. I’m looking at you, Dave Wolfe.

The other major change for this year’s model is the added spike. For those wondering, these are replaceable tornado spikes so you can get a few extra miles out of them if you so choose. While I have never had a problem with the older seven spike models, the new eight spike system certainly felt stable and well connected to the ground during even the most aggressive swings. This also translated into swings in wet conditions. Whether it was morning dew or after some rainfall, I never felt like I would slip or lose my footing.
