Description

The WAVE 2 Portable AC features 6100 BTUs of heating capacity, raising the temperature by 18°F (10°C)— from 68°F to 86°F (20°C to 30°C)in just five minutes.

Battery life on the Wave 2 is very good. Using it in maximum mode, I was able to get more than two hours of use out of the system; dropping down to Eco mode boosted this to just shy of eight hours, although sacrificing some cooling ability along the way. The EcoFlow WAVE 2 uses R290, a natural refrigerant that’s clean, green, and perfect for a relaxing cooling experience. With lower global warming potential and no ozone emissions, it’s the ideal way to stay cool and comfortable compared to traditional refrigerants while reducing your carbon footprint. EcoFlow WAVE 2 Swappable Battery The side of the Wave 2 has an XT60 input for connecting any of EcoFlow’s solar panels. However, we highly recommend using it in conjunction with the add-on battery for charging only. Often times, even with a 400w rated panel in ideal conditions, it won’t be enough power to fully operate the unit without the add-on battery attached. That said, we highly recommend opting for the add-on battery if it’s within your means.

EcoFlow is perhaps better known for its power stations, such as the EcoFlow Delta 2, but the company is expanding into a wide range of, primarily, battery-powered products, including the EcoFlow Blade robot lawn mower and the Wave 2, its second-generation portable air conditioning unit.

Within 10 minutes and beyond, it remained at a steady 370-400 watts for the duration of its operation, even with max mode activated with the fan speed turned up high. During this time, the air coming out of the Wave 2 dipped down to a low of 54.6 degrees and remain steady for over an hour. Operating it in eco or night mode will lower this by about 80-100 watts, resulting in a draw of 270-300 watts. Heating ModeIn heating mode, the EcoFlow Wave 2 draws a maximum of 600W (540W on battery), which is a heating capacity of 6100BTU. Again, that’s good for smaller rooms; if you’ve got a very cold space or larger room, you may want to look at one of our best electric heaters instead. I found that on maximum heating mode, the Wave 2 topped out just shy of 400W. Speaking of, the add-on battery is a nice addition (if you can afford it). It slides right onto the base, latches into position and connects via the included XT150 cable. The battery has a built-in handle with a power button and LED battery-life indicators on the front. There’s also a USB-C and USB-A charging port on the front corner of the battery – pretty cool. For air conditioning, the EcoFlow Wave 2 is rated at a maximum of 5100BTU, although that assumes mains power, which it draws 550W; on battery power, power consumption is slightly reduced to 495W. I found that power consumption on maximum hovered around the 430W mark. That’s still relatively efficient for an air conditioning unit, and that’s down to the quality of the compressor inside.

The Wave has a sound rating of less than 55dB, but it gets quite loud in a small space, especially when the fans are spinning at maximum speed. I found Eco mode even more annoying because the compressor and fans constantly turn on and off. is enough for around a 10m² room. That’s most average UK sized bedrooms and offices, and more than enough for a typical tent. Of course, there are some caveats to this, such as the height of the ceilings and where the sun shines in, but the 10m² is a good starting point. Its predecessor only reduced the temperature by 11°F (6°C) in about eight minutes, meaning the WAVE 2 Portable AC delivers cooler results in a fraction of the time. Heating and Cooling The Ecoflow WAVE 2 Portable ACis a smart, portable cooling and heating solution for those needing a compact but powerful unit. Its no-drainage design in cooling mode makes it ideal for people who don’t want to deal with installation or hiring a professional. Portable air conditioning units are rarely really that. Sure, they can be put away in winter or wheeled from room to room, but they’re far from what I’d call portable. That’s where the EcoFlow Wave 2 comes in.Heavy items will require the recipient to make arrangements to take delivery of the goods and may require the recipient to help the courier unload the item. For items that are delivered on a pallet the courier will leave the pallet as close to your door as possible. The battery can take 800 charges before it hits 80% capacity, as it uses older technology. Still, that means that if the battery was charged for three months of the year, once per day, it would take 8.8 years until the battery was at 80% capacity.

While on Eco mode, with EcoFlow's exclusive technology of Smart Battery Allocation Algorithm, Wave 2 can balance between cooling mode and fan mode to provide users with an expected long runtime. The EcoFlow Wave 2 is a game changer when it comes to efficient heating and cooling. While it’s not perfect, it’s likely the best portable air conditioner currently available on the market. And with its ability to act as a heater as well, there’s truly nothing similar to compare it to, putting it in a class of its own. It’s relatively quiet, portable and well designed. Placed in a room with no direct sunlight, the Wave 2 dealt more easily with heat: my 28°C room dropped to a more pleasant 22°C within an hour. The design also makes this themost powerful unit of its size. An automatic drainage feature in cooling mode eliminates manual drainage and makes maintenance a breeze.Read on to see how WAVE 2 brings things to a whole new level of cool (and heat!) with the latest innovation in on-the-go temperature control. 20% Smaller Opening all the windows would have truthfully been a more reasonable way to keep cool, given the outside air temp, but I had committed to suffer for my gadgetry, so I sealed myself in and cranked the AC. After returning to a toasty warm van in a spring rainstorm, I think I could get used to this whole “van office” thing. I just need to build a bed for Marty. Pair with an EcoFlow DELTA 2 / DELTA Max or their extra batteries and get an astonishing 7-14hr run time in Eco Mode. Compared to using other portable power stations, it’s 28% more efficient. You can also use any portable power station with an 820W input to charge your EcoFlow WAVE 2. No drainage is needed in cooling mode when humidity is below 70%, but it is still needed in heating mode.
