In spite of abuse from his father, taunts from his classmates and distrust from teachers and school counselors, he manages to be successful with help from Gordie. Set in 1960, the story takes place in the small town of Castle Rock, Maine, where twelve-year-old Gordie Lachance and his three friends are ready to set out to substantiate the rumours that the body of a missing boy has turned up near the next town. During an argument, Chris pulls the gun on the gang and forces them to leave, but Ace promises reprisals.

Her parents, Guy and Nellie Pillsbury, had become incapacitated with old age, and Ruth King was persuaded by her sisters to take over the physical care of them. I would highly recommend this alongside "Shawshank Redemption" because of the human element layered in the story. The Body is special, though, because it is so of summer, and what it means to kids: King’s kid characters here are spot-on, and he inhabits the spirit of childhood a’la Ray Bradbury.

So, obviously after reading Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption and realizing that it was just as good as the movie, I was pretty excited for The Body as well. Non importa quanto siano importanti gli avvenimenti che condividi con alcune persone, alla fine quel che resta è, per la maggior parte delle volte, un piacevole ricordo che tirerai fuori all'occorrenza.

Adapted into the 1986 classic film Stand By Me, The Body is an iconic exploration of friendship, loneliness and adventure, an unforgettable coming-of-age story by master chronicler of small-town adolescence and universal experience, Stephen King. Gordie's best friend, Chris Chambers, comes from a broken home with an extremely abusive alcoholic father and where the boys are expected to become delinquents like his next older brother, Billy. The body of Ray Brower was discovered to be mangled by the train while attempting to escape the locomotive's path. Along the way, the boys trespass at the town dump and are chased by Chopper, the dump custodian Milo Pressman's dog.

We'd all listened to the Ray Brower story - he was a kid our age The small town of Castle Rock is tuning in to the news of a young boy who has gone missing from a nearby town.
