was really knowledgeable and I feel really confident that I’ve got the right pair of shoes to help me on my runs. On rocky terrain it can be difficult to use due to the lack of a rock guard that will leave your feet sore unless you are nimble. I have a hard time finding usage for it, but if the fit works for you, it’s a great moderate terrain, long distance racer - I saw a bunch of them out at Canyons 100K last week. I found that I was able to really push through the glutes and focus on fully pushing through my stride.

Even with the added volume, the upper is not sloppy at all - the lacing and the volume are just right where you can snug it up quickly and you get a nice fit without any squeezing from the sides. v=1680621176","variant_ids":[43876954734820,43876954767588,43876954800356,43876954833124,43876954865892,43876954898660,43876954931428,43876954964196,43876954996964,43876955029732,43876955062500,43876955095268,43876955128036,43876955160804,43876955193572]},"available":false,"name":"Brooks Divide 3 (Mens) - Blue\/Green\/Grey - 6. From time to time carriers may deliver earlier or later, or on non working days however this is cannot be guaranteed nor should it be expected. Through long runs and extended outings, this stability allowed us to relax a bit and let the shoe take some of the load. The tongue is of medium thickness and is gusseted, adding to the comfort, ease of entry and premium feel.

Landings roll smoothly from my typical lateral forefoot landing area across to the medial side and then through the middle of the shoe. The midsole and outsole are divided into flexible zones, providing increased flexibility and a smoother gait transition, similar to many road shoes.

The stack height is more traditional/lower to the ground and the ride is firmer underfoot, especially on road.

While the Divide 3 lacks this element, perhaps that’s part of its appeal, to those who are attracted to the road-shoe appearance and feel. Where possible ask for a service that is "tracked" and ensure your parcel is adequately covered for compensation in the unlikely event of your parcel going missing. It feels like the flex grooves prevent the shoe from feeling slappy and they do smooth out the ride.

The Caldera 6, while it has an accommodating forefoot, is perhaps just a smidge more narrow than the Divide 3. We have cautioned newer runners to stay away from super shoes, plated shoes and those that may greatly alter mechanics for several reasons.

Both work well for moderate distance training miles, the Topo could go longer based on your personal fit and feel. I think the sweet spot for the Divide 3 is medium distance on smoother to more moderate trails at just about any pace, but can easily handle rough terrain, rocky technical trails and even off trail without much compromise. Jeff V: The new air mesh upper is impressively modern looking, flexible, well ventilated and secure. Like the Brooks Cascadia — see our Brooks Cascadia 16 review for more — the Divide is also often described as a “perfect shoe for new trail runners,” I would argue that newbies and veterans alike could enjoy the comfort and versatility of this daily trainer.

As you can see from the picture below, the grooves are oriented in more of a fluid manner, rather than being straight across or at regular intervals. The Catamount is a perfect example - it’s a very good shoe that falls short of being great due to the upper being kind of insecure, kind of tapered, and the heel kind of rigid. Sutton Runner was recommended to me as I have a foot injury following surgery that is aggravated every time I try to . I’ve never felt so comfortable in trainers and Dave was helpful and patient in getting the right ones.

The lugs on the Divide are more subdued and less aggressive, allowing for reduced road noise when running on less technical surfaces. We've always been impressed with Brooks ability to provide an affordable shoe with tons of great features without being overly heavy. Sizing wise the SG5 is a lot narrower up front than the Divide, and much less volume overall in the upper. Also our International Size Chart can help make the size translations from UK, Europe and Japan measurements. The Asics upper is a bit stretchier, tougher to lock down, so I find it less secure in uneven terrain.
