Description

It is moisturising, but not as much as PC or Dermatica, and I find it takes a little longer to rub into my richer skin tone. The finish is slightly tacky which I actually don’t mind as it means I can skip primer and go straight to foundation! Loads of skincare brands market their key “actives” on products, but when you look at the INCI list, those ingredients are right at the bottom. It doesn’t contain comedogenic ingredients and is also pH neutral, so it shouldn’t cause any irritation or interfere with the skin’s barrier function.

Each product has been formulated to support your skin while you’re using Dermatica’s personalised treatments (which are packed with active ingredients). If you know anything about me from my podcast or YouTube videos, you’ll know that I’m all about a hydrating mist to help my skincare layers absorb and with the Dermatica Azelaic 20% Cream I feel like I need a little spritz to smooth things along. The way I have been slotting this into my routine is might sound a bit involved but it gets around the issue of not being able using it at the same time as tretinoin. I started to get into a cycle of using the treatment for a few days, experiencing dryness, waiting for it to clear up and then trying again.

I also feel like I’m experiencing fewer breakouts, and any red marks I did have (from previous breakouts) seem to have disappeared. We are very keen to advise our patients openly about what results they can achieve using our treatments and what would be the best for them to do. A powerful antioxidant found in nature, Azelaic Acid is easily absorbed into skin – helping it stay calm, combating environmental damage and improving brightness. This reduces the risk of irritation whilst your skin gets use to the ingredients but actually it’s also quite nice to have a quick routine when you’re tired haha! I started my treatment back in October for ageing skin, after a couple of months my skin is looking brighter and the colour is even.At the moment I’m still working through the rest of my third-month treatment and I’m hoping to continue with the plan once I’m done. It contains two forms of hyaluronic acid – hydrolyzed hyaluronic acid and sodium hyaluronate – both of which help the skin retain moisture. I also think it’s nice that your Dermatica dashboard has a built-in timeline so you can keep track of your skin journey. It’s really good but it can cause peeling on sensitive skin and continued use ale ale your skin inflamed and lead to further pigmentation. My 5th month is going to be in October rather than September, as I’m a little behind in product so I can skip a month.

You can read about the start of my journey here in a previous post Dermatica – My Journey which was actually posted a year ago now so I will be back to update on this soon! Please note that this is a long-term treatment, and although we should start to see more improvements at the 12-week mark, we do anticipate it taking longer than this to see significant results. Cassandra does actually have some clinical rosacea, and when she puts this onto her skin, she doesn’t see or feel any changes. My combination skin leans more dry so I do sometimes need a bit more hydration than this moisturiser offers.

The tretinoin, niacinamide, and azelaic acid combo has been working wonders, and their Vitamin C is top-notch. The first couple of times I used it, I felt a bit of a tingle with it, particularly around my nose area.
