The GT-F are compatible with Shimano and SRAM too though, and I can imagine would be an attractive proposition for anyone looking to port their high-end Di2 or eTAP groupset to a new disc brake frame. Please note that if you have taken the bike or frame out of its box, then it's really important you repack it carefully so that it comes back to us in the same condition in which we shipped it.

I have used the F1's with Sram levers as well, and while also quite good, the GT's are a step up in braking performance.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. It can be achieved in less than 30mins and completely avoids the hassle of bleeding hoses, recabling STI levers or similar issues.

Had to adjust them for pad wear for the first time this weekend which involved turning the adjuster wheel which is just below the bare cable in the picture of the rear brake above so fairly easy, but I believe Trp Hy/Rd adjust themselves so a minus point there. On the rare occasion that we ship you an incorrect item or your item arrives damaged, please get in touch with us so that we can resolve the issue as quickly as we can. We previously tested Juin Tech's R1 brakes (you can read the review here) so were keen to take a look at their latest offering. Roads, bridleways, canal paths, deep muddy puddles – all these conditions and more were thrown at them, along with some aggressive riding, and the R1s haven't put a foot wrong yet. Most purchases from business sellers are protected by the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013 which give you the right to cancel the purchase within 14 days after the day you receive the item.

Juin Tech advise using 160mm rotors, and I've been satisfied with the performance of the lightweight Ashima Ai2 rotors I'm running. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. The F1/M1 is the latest addition to the Juin Tech stable, sold as a set including mounting bolts, adaptors and rotors.

Braking performance is enhanced over a mechanical disc brake and the caliper has easy pad and cable adjustment. These brakes were put through their paces on some of the most gruelling descents you would every try to ride a cross bike down. Performance wise, i didn't really have anything to compare them too aside from my other bike which are fully mechanical disc brakes. If you can fit a set of rim brakes, you can fit these; it's certainly within the capability of a reasonably competent home mechanic. The Juin tech F1 hydraulic cable pull flat mount disc brake set offers a unique solution to the road/gravel/cyclocross (CX) rider wanting to upgrade from mechanical cable pull disc brakes. Main reason I’m looking is because I still like my cross-top levers, so until hope launch their hydro ones there aren’t many options.

The brake calipers mount to the frame and forks using the provided bolts, pads are pre-fitted and the calipers connected to shifters using regular brake cables. In our final week of testing the Juin Tech R1 brakes, I was riding at pace along a quiet shared path when a pedestrian wearing headphones suddenly stepped in front of me. The bike itself has been a revelation and I’ve really gotten into cx, with the odd race and long off road rides, even though I wasn’t too fussed when I bought it and was following Mrs Kilo’s lead into cx. If you're hoping for stopping power that's comparable to the best hydraulic systems then we hate to break it to you, these aren't that. The hybrid system offers the cyclist the option of replacing the mechanical brake caliper with a hydraulic 2-piston brake caliper while retaining the brake cables. So they’re a closed system then, wonder how well they’d cope on the road, seeing as C2’s could expand tot he point of locking up I’m imagining a road bike will be worse? Is it time I get Juin Tech GT-F or am I digging a bigger hole in my wallet and should go full hydro? With summer on the wane and cyclocross (not to mention rainy commutes) on the horizon, cyclists' thoughts may be turning to disc brakes. Hydraulic pistons are actuated by a normal brake cable - so you can keep your existing rim brake shifters.
