Beginning with the release of Now 91 on 24 July 2015, the release dates in the UK and Ireland have been the same following the announcement of The Global Release Day campaign by IFPI, which became effective on 10 July 2015. Through the release of Now 90 on 30 March 2015, the release date in Ireland was three days before the UK release. In February 2023, 12" mixes all taken from the first three Now Dance compilations, originally released in 1985, 1986 and 1989, were collected on a special 4CD and 3LP set, Now Dance: The 80s, with artwork inspired by the original Now Dance 86. They are also notable as being the first time a Now series had released a compilation of hits from the years 1980 to 1982.

According to our music teacher at the time, they had compiled the album and had all the sleeves and inlay cards pressed, when Queen stepped forward and said: “Hang on! Someone at EMI screwed up and put it on Now 7, but only this vinyl version, the CD uses the correct 1986 single version.Initially, a special edition of a Now compilation was quite rare, and between 1994 and 2002, there weren't any released at all. The Now Yearbook series also releases a vinyl selection of its primary release, with an Extra round-up vinyl boxset featuring tracks from the CD-only series, released at the end of 2022. The military theme is continued with ex-Wall of Voodoo man Stan Ridgway’s Nam-twanging Camouflage which is expertly slotted after Max Headroom and The Art of Noise’s sleep-pleading Paranoimia. Vote up content that is on-topic, within the rules/guidelines, and will likely stay relevant long-term. By the autumn of 1986 the record companies were gradually coming around to considering compact discs as a optional format for various artists compilations.

Various tracks are the album versions, instead of the original single mixes and some songs are omitted completely. They all vary from one to five disc compilations (occasionally six disc), starting in 1986 and continuing to the present day (Jan 2023).The percussive Bucks Fizz, followed by the slow crescendo that is the A-ha number, all topped off nicely with The Simply Red jewel. I definitely wouldn’t have put it on side 4 but the end of the first side might have worked as well.

A standard 4-CD version is also issued in a gatefold "wallet" design, which retails cheaper than the mini-hardback books. Accordingly there’s quite a few songs that could have been considered or even featured on an extra compilation. We managed to get David Bowie and Eurythmics who’d refused permission for the first one and ended up striking a deal with Queen on the agreement that they would appear in the TV ad and be the first track on the album. Nu Shooz - I Can't Wait: Great synth riff, more on which later as it was sampled in a track on a later Now!
