It’s honestly one of my favorites, as evidenced by the fact I’ve already played it 10 times this year. I was recently running a private corporate function, and all I had to do to get a full table for Las Vegas was to ask: “Who likes casinos? Honestly, if I owned Royale, I’d probably never even use the mini games, but they do spice things up if you’ve gotten a little bored with the base game. Hotels (Below all 4 streets) - Once all the spots in a column have been filled by a casino, a hotel is built at the bottom of that column or Avenue.

You will be forever pondering where you place your dice, trying to second guess what other players may do, and trying to assert your dominance on certain casino’s. I rarely get to review the same game more than once, though I always appreciate it when I can (provided I liked it and it’s not some poor reimplementation of the base tenets of the game made into an extremely raunchy sailor-version For Some Unknowable Reason).Las Vegas Royale adds a bunch of different mini games that can be swapped in and out to vary the game play, but the perfect, elegant core of the game remains the same. Then the player with the second most dice on that casino takes the second highest money card (if there is one). If anything, it just means that the silly casino games might be a bit more fun than the full game, which is odd, but maybe I just overindex on trying to win them because it’s a bit more predictable, probability-wise? And if you already have the original and love it, I would encourage adding this to your collection too, as it brings a lot more to the table and I think you will probably enjoy it more.

But, with the expansion tiles, and the ‘Biggy,’ (a larger dice each player has access too which counts as two dice when placed) there is some strategy here. What they all have in common: unique Disney illustrations and detailed Marvel worlds with all the well-known anti-heroes such as Thanos, Hela, Ultron in Marvel Villainous or Maleficent, Ursula, Jafar or Captain Hook in Disney Villainous. Perform the Effect (optional) - The player’s chosen combination allows them to perform an effect, if they wish, and if they have opened a casino with the Casino card.

Las Vegas Royale’s simplicity isn’t a weakness, it’s its greatest strength, and it’s why I love the game so much.

Despite this not changing massively in Welcome to New Las Vegas, it does feel somewhat more abstract now. Especially if you keep an eye not only on your strategy but also on your fellow players along the way.One of the most attractive things about both Welcome to and Welcome to New Las Vegas is how well the game scales. That said, the core game is not modified particularly, so it still shines through the fresh coat of paint. Organize the pairs from highest total to lowest total (breaking ties by which pair has the higher value card). Players roll sets of six dice and place those that match the house’s numbers on those casinos, continuing to roll and place until they are out of dice. Show Opening (Pink Star) - If placed on a casino with a star on its ceiling, then you can fill in one of the spots on the 2 columns of the show track of your player board.
