Thanks to their closed-back design, they're more versatile and have a slightly better bass response than the Beyerdynamic DT 990 PRO or Beyerdynamic DT 880. They're also tremendously more comfortable than the Sennheiser, and their build quality is noticeably superior. I am not a fan of closed headphones per se, but sometimes it is the only politic choice when wearing them around the house, and the 770s are the only such headphones I have so far found that I really enjoy the sound of and find comfortable when wearing for long periods. The Beyerdynamic DT 880 and the Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO are similarly-performing headphones for critical listening.

Even though this model doesn’t have weird dips or peaks in one of the channels, the stereo image is still a bit skewed – differences are throughout the whole frequency spectrum. In my experience what this introduced was some lower treble glare and sibilance, but again, I didn't find it to be painful to listen to like on some of the other Beyer's--just something to keep in mind if you're very treble sensitive. On the other hand, the Beyerdynamic are closed-back headphones with fantastic bass accuracy, so your music has more thump and rumble, which some may prefer.The headband adjustment could be smoother – a quick adjustment while keeping them on your head can be quite a challenge.

The biggest difference is in their sound profiles - the Beyerdynamic sound quite bright, even piercing to some, while the Astro sound less sharp but are also a bit dark.
