The mix I made up gave me enough dilute liquid to do two 8 x 10 paintings, two partial paintings, the chart, technique experiments, spill some, and still have half the liquid, afterwards. Here are my best answers and everything a new painter needs to know about the kind of watercolour paint that comes in tubes and pans. It’s cold-pressed but has a softer, more textured surface and no surface sizing, so it’s more absorbent.

Joanne Thomas is perhaps the only art tutor in the world that teaches budding artists to create expressive, contemporary watercolours with Brusho. A pack of 12 brilliantly vivid, highly-pigmented pots of powdered watercolour crystals from Brusho in assorted colours. If you already use watercolour paints, then Brusho is a great medium for you to try, use it alone, or alongside you traditional watercolour paints. When used like traditional watercolour colours, once dried you can lift colour out with a clean wet brush, or dampen then lift with a tissue, you can create blooms of texture by spraying water over dried or wet Brusho paint, or allow the paints to mix on the paper and run into each other. This step by step tutorial will have you using tonal values in painting a watercolour swan with in less than an hour.Blue, Ultramarine, Prussian Blue, Turquoise, Leaf Green, Emerald Green, Sea Green, Violet, Purple, Light Brown, Dark Brown, Grey, Black and White. Brusho colours provide a good degree of lightfastness and all colours have a rating of between 4 and 6. Learn to use Brusho with Painting with Brusho by Joanna Boon Thomas, an easy-to-use guide on using the versatile ink powder. I tried tapping a small amount of the powder onto the dried paper and then spray misting and got a fun splatter effect. As stated earlier, Brusho pigments are a great medium and incredibly easy to use and very versatile.

Once dry you can paint over and then when your painting is dry rub off the masking fluid leaving the white of the paper. This Brusho Paint Crystals Set contains 12 x 15g pots of incredibly pigmented and versatile watercolour ink powder in assorted colours. That is until you realise that they are in fact a DYE BASED PRODUCT and therefore of no use to professional artists creating original fine artworks, because they are not archival.

Using any of the above simple techniques you will have a glorious spread of vibrant colour in moments. Inspiring creativity, we’re proud to support art and design education in all corners of the globe through events, sponsorship, and competitions. To add even more dimension to your creative activities, and for those creatives who love a bit of bling! With this glazing technique you usually wait until the first layer is dry before you apply the next. Spritz water on to watercolour paper, sprinkle Brusho Crystal Colour on to the paper and it bursts in to colour. I think it is better to just poke a little hole in the top of the lid to turn the tub into a sort of shaker. To convert Brusho powders into watercolour paint, you simply decant a very small amount of pigment powder into the wells of your palette and with a small brush add a little amount of cold water, the pigment powder will mix instantly into a liquid paint. They will stain surfaces, clothes and hands as the tiny pigment particles can easily be airborne and land unintentionally where they are not wanted!

Because the pigment powder is so fine, some artists may wear a mask, especially if they suffer from respiratory problems. Brusho paints can be layered on top of each other exactly the same way as ordinary watercolour, with each layer affecting the colour below.

Available in 15g and 50g tubs, this versatile and intense paint powder can be applied to a variety of mediums including: watercolour, mixing with acrylics, simple sprinkling techniques and even wood staining!
