since late 2015 and I've found during that time that, not only is she a lovely human being, but her books just keep getting better and better!

Yes, it must be overwhelming and at times frightening for the famous person who cannot see what it is that makes them so special but for a fan it is the feeling of belonging.

I Was Born for This is a stunning reflection of modern teenage life, and the power of believing in something – especially yourself. boy band members, when the real world around teenagers can seem so hostile and full of injustice and suffering. Juliet Schwartz – Eighteen and Angel’s best friend that she was introduced to on the internet and is meeting for the first time to see The Ark together. Featuring a vibrant rainbow design, and our super-sized Q logo, you won't find a more stylish way to make a statement. Angel is similarly obsessed with “The Ark”, a three-member boy band from England who are just starting to become internationally recognized in this novel.

Her webcomic Heartstopper has been translated into several languages, and Oseman recently announced she’d sold its rights and that a TV show is on its way. Her family members, especially her mother, think it’s just a phase and chastise her obsession, but Angel stands strong in her love of the band. I’ve always felt a bit of pity for people that become celebrities as children or teenagers because it prevents them from properly socializing with their peers and forming a basis of what ordinary life is like for most people. This trombone quartet, composed by my dear friend Jeremy Howard Back, won the ASCAP Morton Gould Young Composer Award and couldn't be more deserving. It reminded me so much of teenage fandom, even in the way it was written, and draws attention to the implications for both sides. Oseman makes clear that when boy band members sing their ballads and look directly into the camera, you can imagine they’re looking at you; when they share a joke with a band member on a YouTube video you’re watching, you can imagine you’re there in the room with them, in on the joke and laughing along with them. How you can go on and on about your favorite topics, and express yourself to your friends on the internet in a way that may be very hard for you to do in real life.

If you are an extreme fan then someone else can feel caged in the spotlight and be not able to be themselves as well of the stage.Perhaps you’re getting this from my list, but this book has some of the most nuanced character arcs I’ve had the pleasure of reading in recent memory. Online communication has genuinely allowed me, a somewhat socially awkward person, to develop meaningful and lasting relationships with so many people and I am so incredibly grateful for that.

For Angel Rahimi life is about one thing: The Ark – a pop-rock trio of teenage boys who are taking the world by storm. By being part of The Ark’s fandom has given her everything - her friendships, her dreams, her place in the world. Alongside writing and drawing, Alice enjoys playing the piano semi-proficiently, Pokémon games, and purchasing too many Converse. The novel, by 27-year-old author and illustrator of the sensationally popular (for good reason) Heartstopper series of graphic novels, follows teenage fangirl Fereshteh (who goes by her online alias of Angel) and the object of her affections, Jimmy Kaga-Ricci, one-third of the sensationally popular boy band The Ark (which, while fictional, certainly finds a few parallels in the real world). His bandmates, Rowan and Lister, are just as compelling - Rowan is biracial and Nigerian and dealing with a hidden relationship, and Lister is dealing with alcoholism and depression. XD I’m sure one day my kid and I will have such an argument too and I can only hope that she’ll know that I love her no matter what. The dual perspectives really pushed the book forward and the insight into how both parties were feeling was definitely needed!
