Description

Je to neskutočne odolná žena, ktorá je odhodlaná porozprávať svoj príbeh a jej pravnuk Dov je pripravený jej v tom pomôcť. She shares details that are so intimate, personal: the moment her mother removes her shoes and passes them over to Lily. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. With your soul fed by a small act of resistance, even if it made no difference to anyone else, you imagined you could live for just a tiny bit longer….

This book was a very detailed and heartbreaking read of exactly what the Jewish community had to endure during those years in the war. I've heard this before, and also that it is so important to the Jewish Community to bear witness to these testimonies.A heart-wrenching and ultimately life-affirming Holocaust survivor story that demonstrates the power of love to see us through the darkest of times. Though Lily saw and experienced inhumanity at its lowest ebb, her reaction was not one of bitterness or cynicism, but of hope and compassion. Lily was born in Hungary where she lived in the small town of Bonyhád with her three sisters and two brothers and their parents. Lily is a 97 year old Holocaust survivor who has worked with her teenage great grandson (who has helped her reach people through Twitter, Tiktok, and Twitch) to tell of her time in the concentration camps. That word doesn’t seem at all big enough to contain the intolerance, hate, violence, and despair these people of all ages suffered for so many years. Keď sa potom jej pravnuk Dov Forman rozhodol využiť sociálne médiá, aby vystopoval rodinu tohto vojaka, deväťdesiatšesťročná Lily sa odrazu ocitla na titulkách po celom svete.

The incredibly moving and powerful memoir of an Auschwitz survivor who made headlines around the world. I have read a number of Auschwitz books and they have only ever really detailed life from getting off the train at Birkenau and the horrors that came after. Although all the books I have read have been based at the same concentration camp i find it astounding how different each persons version is. The book, which she co-wrote with her great-grandson, Dov Forman, is permeated by a sense of hope that Lily retains in both her educational work and daily life.

Prince Charles of Wales read a hard to understand introduction (more than likely read from a portable sound system) but I bow to him for letting the world know of his involvement in the holocaust project in his country albeit what is that 65 years later? It’s disgusting and shocking that humans still are able to harbor so much hatred and do these things, and speaks volumes to the importance of brave souls like Lily who are willing to share their experiences to hopefully educate others and prevent future atrocities. I saw Lily Ebert and her great grandson, Dov Forman, on The View around the time this book was published. Simon Sebag Montefiore We must never forget the horrors of the Holocaust; Lily is an incredible lady and an inspiration to us all. Though this might seem like an overwhelming challenge, what we can do is advocate for better education on both the Holocaust and contemporary antisemitism.Lily had promised herself that if she survived Auschwitz she would tell everyone the truth about the camp. An inspiring book written by 97-year-old holocaust survivor Lily Ebert, with contributions by her great grandson, Dov Forman. Myslím na to, o koľko lepšie poznám svoju prababičku než pred rokom, keď sme so štyrmi generáciami rodiny šťastne oslavovali jej narodeniny v Bournemouthe. For those who already read other biography like hers (because yes, it's a biography and NOT a fiction) you still gonna learn new thing that you never read or heard before. It begins with her childhood in Hungary, before she and her family are taken to Auschwitz where her mother and two sisters perish.

We owe it to every Holocaust victim, and survivor like Lily, to educate new generations about the horrors of that atrocity so it can never be allowed to happen again. Selbst als sie sich mit mehreren Familien eine Wohnung teilen musste und keine Privatsphäre hatte, konnte sie sich nicht vorstellen, dass es noch schlimmer wird. But, none of the books of this genre that I have read over the past 10 years have moved me, nor have really shown me and led me to feel, what true hell their experiences were.Príbeh sa rýchlo stal virálnym a Lily mala dokonca možnosť porozprávať sa s vojakovou rodinou cez Zoom. It’s emotional, it’s narrated in a way it makes the reader feel like we’re next to Lily having a conversation and listening to her experiences. Apparently during the pandemic, a 96 year old Auschwitz surviver was tearing up TikTok with her great-great-grandson talking about her survival. Lily toho stratila veľa, ale vybudovala si nový život pre seba a svoju rodinu najprv v Izraeli a potom v Londýne. I’ve always been interested in the Holocaust, I’ve always watched movies, documentaries, and read whatever I could find online about it.
