Description

Recorded in November 1993, six months before the death of singer Kurt Cobain, and released in November 1994, this mainly acoustic performance by Nirvana for the MTV Unplugged series captures the band at their peak. All songs written by Kurt Cobain and published by The End of Music (SESAC) / BMG Rights Management (UK) Ltd (PRS) except "Jesus Doesn't Want Me For A Sunbeam" written by Eugene Kelly and Frances McKee and published by Domino Publishing Company Of America, Inc. Almost all of our vinyl discs will include either an original inner sleeve, or a plain inner sleeve, or a printed inner sleeve, which we provide with the sole purpose of protecting the record.

The double-vinyl package features the original tracklisting, in addition to five bonus rehearsal performances that were previously only available on the DVD edition. For items that are dispatched using our standard service, we ask that you wait 14 days from the date of dispatch before reporting any items as undelivered. As opposed to traditional practice on the television series, Nirvana played a setlist composed of mainly lesser-known material and cover versions of songs by The Vaselines, David Bowie, Meat Puppets (during which they were joined by two members of the group onstage), and Lead Belly. Due to inventory and accounting purposes, we do not exchange items received for different items than originally purchased. Featuring unique acoustic renditions of their legendary hits as well as the captivating cover of Bowie's Man Who Sold The World. Among the rehearsals – which were previously only available as bonus content on the MTV Unplugged in New York – is a different take on the David Bowie cover “The Man Who Sold the World,” a version that finds both Nirvana and the production team finding their footing ahead of the concert. It has a liveness and warmth to it that is very difficult to capture, but is reflected on this recording. Some electronic amplification and guitar effects were used, and the song list was more than a run through of fan favourites, but included some cover versions including David Bowie’s ‘The Man who Sold the World’.This, in many senses, isn’t just an abnormal Nirvana record, capturing them in their sincerest desire to be R. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes. Save for renditions of 'All Apologies' and 'Come As You Are', the adventurous material includes brooding covers of the Meat Puppets' 'Lake of Fire', 'Plateau', and 'Oh Me' as well as harrowing versions of David Bowie's 'The Man Who Sold the World', and the Vaselines' 'Jesus Don't Want Me for a Sunbeam'.

BMG Blue (BMI); "Oh Me," "Plateau" and "Lake Of Fire" written by Curt Kirkwood and published by BMG Bumblebee (BMI); "Where Did You Sleep Last Night? These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. The story of how this legendary performance by this legendary band has been the subject of numerous articles and documentaries. As one of the best albums of 1994, it was best summed up by Mojo as "…a performance of raw vulnerability that served as the perfect epitaph for poor Kurt Cobain".

Kurt Cobain’s songwriting was revealed to be just as emotionally hefty, even without the dynamism of Krist Novoselic and Dave Grohl’s normal volume - indeed, the thought of Grohl drumming with brushes is a strange one even now. Recorded in November 1993, less than six months before singer Kurt Cobain killed himself, Nirvana's MTV Unplugged is a watershed document that presents the band at the peak of its powers. Artists doing unplugged sessions and interacting with each other and the crowd bring them down to earth and humbled I think.

Regularly heralded as one of the finest live albums of all time, Nirvana’s iconic MTV Unplugged In New York is being re-issued in expanded form to mark the 25th anniversary of its release. It’s a nakedly emotional record, unintentionally so, as the subtext means more than the main themes of how Nirvana wanted to prove its worth and diversity, showcasing the depth of their songwriting. Marking the iconic lives set's first pressing as a double LP, the new edition features five rehearsal performances that were previously available on only the DVD release.

This double LP version blows the single disc out of the water in terms of sonics, and is definitely the one to own. Rehearsal versions of “Polly,” “Pennyroyal Tea,” “Come As You Are” and the Meat Puppets’ “Plateau” are also included on the vinyl’s Side D. We use cookies to give you the best possible experience on our site, provide personalised content and advertising, analyse our traffic, and ensure you see more of what you love. The bonus rehearsal material is a nice time capsule extra to boot (Pennyroyal Tea is especially interesting as it is in a different, higher key, the performance version is much better).
