While her choices have sometimes been dicey, she is always focussed on her job and helping those in need. Helen and her team really have their work cut out, there are wrong turns, false leads, and a case of mistaken identity. Once you start you just won't want to put it down, as it's a brilliant read and a great addition to the series which is one of my favorites. Women were allowed to take traditionally male professions for the first time, and many women thrived.

Grace remembers the face of a man with a large scar who was on the scene of Caroline's death, and believes he was responsible for the murder. As Helen goes about tracking down the other survivors of the kidnapping, with a killer lurking in the background, there is a neat counterpoint to her ‘not sure whether to commit to Joseph’ storyline in Charlie’s impending second baby. It was such a pleasure to meet you both, and I really appreciated how smoothly and professionally you ran everything. There are characters in the ‘ All Fall Down’ which relate to an earlier case of Helen’s, so readers more familiar than I am might recognise names from other books, but it does not detract in any way from this story.However, even a slightly inferior book from this author is better than some of the other offerings out there. Growing up in a medieval Yorkshire village, Isabel's life is utterly predictable – until the pestilence, which has been devastating Europe, crosses the Channel and begins to spread northwards. Septicaemic plague is perhaps the most frightening of the three – the patient appears perfectly healthy one minute, and is dead the next. Now I will be honest – this did not feel as fast paced as some of the previous books, and the body count and mode of dispatch perhaps not as grotesque as some of it’s predecessors either. Throughout the nine novels in the collection, DI Helen Grace has shown her grit and determination, never one to shy away from things that many would deep out of their comfort zone.
