You should think about the fact that some students might not like reading about themselves in this style or might not be able to read it at all. I would say that for parents, some time would need to be spent reading through and preparing resources, etc before starting to work through. I was still in ‘teacher knows best’ mode and I believe that was a great disservice to the children that I taught when I was straight out of teacher training.When used correctly, as objects to think with, manipulatives can have a profound effect on a learner and not only in terms of their understanding.
