The way in which the human psyche is opened up to readers in a clear and accessible way, means that rather than being pushed out of the story by a lot of psycho-babble, you actually find yourself empathising with the victim even more than you may imagine, even though the victim in this case is a very unique and yet complicated soul. She’s recovering well in hospital but it takes a few days for her to speak, although she seems to have lost her memory.

It was great to be introduced into a world I know nothing about even if it is due to horrific attacks but then it is a crime novel after all. And speaking of guilt, I’m getting tired of this guilt-trip he’s been on in the beginning of this new series.
